One Day - Netflix Series

I especially loved the little touches, like in 2001 Emma was wearing a Storm watch, nearly the exact same one I had at the time, although in the last episode a baby buggys branding was front and center and it bugged me as I know they only came out in 2011 or so, just before I had my eldest 🤣🤣
Omg that annoyed me too!

As I said previously it’s my favourite book and I have the same battered version since 2009. I refused to watch the film after reading the reviews and majority feeling like they butchered it, my heart couldn’t take it.

I’m on episode 11

When he opened the bottle of wine after being left alone with Jasmine I actually cringed. I can’t help but feel for Sylvie. She might be rich and not in love with him but she also knows he’s an alcoholic and leaving her child alone with him must be agony. Never mind to be proven right.

I know she’s a thundering witch for her affair though

Loving it so far.

About your spoiler: totally agree. And you know, Dexter does these things but we as viewers aren’t supposed to question him, because all sorts of awful things happen to him, so that kind of behavior is just his reaction apparently. And I get it, but I don’t think he ever truly worked on himself because he wanted to. He did it because someone else made him. He never ever truly changed.

This is what really upsets me tbh, the unfairness of it all, Dexter still sorta floated through life, Emma did too, but she was very self propelled, and she never got her wedding or her baby, and it was just tit.

I’m still annoyed they left out the best bit of the book and something teenage me melted over

“You're gorgeous, you old hag, and if I could give you just one gift ever for the rest of your life it would be this. Confidence. It would be the gift of confidence. Either that or a scented candle”

Instead he just called her arrogant. Which I see his point but that’s not book Dex 💀

I think (am stating the obvious sorry) we lack their interior lives being on the screen, there must have been more of that in the book I guess. Just seem bland as fook to me at this point (start of final episode).

I just finished it and loved it! It was quite slow to start but definitely enjoyed it the more I watched it. Much preferred it to the film, hated Anne Hathaway’s accent.

I read comments on the daily fail saying how unattractive the actress who plays Emma is which I think is horrible! I think she’s beautiful actually. People are just so used to people looking objectively perfect, botoxed and nip’d and tucked.

Let’s also not forget that a lot of people (not all) aren’t comfortable yet with brown women being presented as desirable in media. It’s very very rare to see one of us as the female lead in a romantic movie/show (in western media). Ambika might not be Hollywood/Anne Hathaway levels of polished beauty, but why should she? She’s very pretty either way.

Currently binge watching, finding it really realky slow going and frustrating in places. Read the book way back when and watched the film, I don't remember feeling so frustrated with the film. Not sure yet which I prefer but the guy playing Dex is literally the perfect Dex
