Odd Neighbours / Neighbour Problems #3

I'll never win this argument with you guys so I'm just going to put my point across.

If your partner is a Tradie or Constitution Worker (which from this thread I think no one but 🤷

Sometimes they are commuting 2-3 hours a day for jobs. That's pretty hardcore. If they're company's lock up is an extra hours commute, then that's pretty tit.

I understand how frustrating it is, we used to live on a Close and although we had a drive, parking was tight. We've moved, we have a detached property with a drive, so we aren't upsetting anyone .

But please spare a thought for the hard working van men who are probably exhausted. If we didn't have trades and construction then we'd have nothing.

I won't be replying to any other comments.

You don't have to defend yourself to anyone! I remember growing up in the 80s/90s it was really unusual for my dad to bring his van home (he worked for BT). Times have changed now, I guess more tradesmen have their own businesses that are entirely run from home, so they don't have their yards etc like they used to.
I get parking rage during the summer season here, there are loads of AirBNBs on my road and the only time we see ignorant parking (fully on the pavement, on blind bends and junctions etc) is during the summer season. It's a roomy road, so I can only assume that people are coming from places where they are used to having to park like this to get a space.

Does the commute render them blind and suddenly unable to see hazards?

Parking on junctions, regardless of vocation, makes you a prick. Parking on shared access, the turning circle of a cul de sac, over multiple parking spots, parent and child spaces or disabled spaces without consideration for any other human makes you a prick. If paramedics had to bring their vans home and parked as the trades do every night we’d also call them pricks.

Having a vehicle of that size leaves you with a responsibility to be considerate and maintain safety to other road users, pedestrians and your neighbours. Regardless of your job it gives no excuse to be a selfish prick to others.

It's not even tradies in my street, it's delivery drivers who take their vans home with them.

Had just come here to say my mums neighbours were sunbathing in their garden today in 14° weather, y'know, practically a heatwave. 😂

Oh god, this has reminded me of my neighbour I lived next to about a decade ago. On reflection she was a (barely) functioning alcoholic and was fond of falling asleep in her back garden whilst completely naked. Of course the first time I found out about this was when my partner's aunt came to visit and was getting a tour of our house. She got more than she bargained for when she looked out our back bedroom window 🙈

Please spare a thought for hard working people who just want to come home from work and get their car on their drive without having to do a 25 point turn or knock on the neighbours and wait for them to drag their arses out to park appropriately, as they SHOULD have done earlier, and watch them juggle their 3 cars around.

Its a problem completely caused by them. You dont need a car to drive to the paper shop.

In other selfish neighbour news, the dog over the back has been barking since 7am... its doing my head in!

My local chip shop causes traffic carnage due to people parking like nobs to get their fish and chips. It’s on the corner of a junction so you get people parked outside, completely blocking the view of the junction. But then you also get people double parked right after the junction and up nearby narrow streets. No-one seems to notice or care about the double yellows. Best part is there’s a car park across the road, but people are lazy and just ditch their cars as close as possible. Even worse when they just sit in their cars scranning their fish and chips before leaving.

Lovely day. Sunbathing weather. My neighbour is pressure washing the tit out of everything in his garden AGAIN. Industrial sized pressure washer too 😡
We have to endure hours of this every weekend.
The neighbour at the other side is “fed up of the weekends”
How sad it is that one person dominates every weekend.

We have someone like that living near us too. I’m amazed everything in his garden hasn’t been eroded to nubs by his furious pressure washing. He was a nightmare in lockdown - we all got the unholy trinity of pressure washing, DIY and loud music.

Also, how come there’s always someone using a jig saw on a Saturday morning wherever you live?

My neighbours have room for 3 cars in their drive and we also have 3 communal spaces shared by the entire row of houses for visitors or extra cars. Over the weekend they parked their 3 cars in the communal spaces and left their drive way completely empty.

They are also so noisy. Their grandkids call a lot and when they do the noise levels go up massively. I get it that kids will be kids but its the adults that make the most noise. They were in the garden a bit and i just realised that their natural speaking voices are just way louder than most people. Whenever Arsenal are playing thier adult son who never seems to leave the house shouts so much and so loudly it feels like he is in my house.

I really want to say something to them about thr noise levels but I dont want to make itnworse ad I'm not sure how they would react.

I dream of buying a detached house somewhere.

Unless you're prepared to give back better than they can give you I would keep quiet. Personally I couldn't give a duck and will kick off at anyone if they are rude or horrible to me. Well within reason. If it was a stranger in the street I'd just let it go. But they sound awful just for the parking situation alone. So they'd probably be very petty

You have to be careful coz they can be arsey and be 10000x noisier when confronted about it

My parents have a ring doorbell which I have access to on my phone and it's been going off at weird times throughout the night. When I check it, it's their next door neighbour going out to his bins to move them. I'm talking moving one bin an inch to the left. Then going out again an hour later and moving another bin to the right. Or rearranging the order they're in. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT! He's also fond of going out and moving his van up an inch closer to my parents wall. Then moving it back down again later. Then back up. You get the idea.

What an absolute saddo! Ppl like this just have no life. Our neighbours sneak out at all times to put their excess crap in our bin. I wish they'd just piss off lol

I wonder if he’s sleep walking? I had a housemate years ago that I’d see and say hello to when we passed in communal areas and he blanked me. I later found out he’d been sleep walking when I saw him.

No he's just an oddball. 🤣 He brushes his driveway at all hours too and clunks the brush off the wall between his and my parents house. He also came and knocked their door one night during his usual to and fro to ask if they wanted their fence painted. 😂

I'm lucky that i've got a backyard that I can lock my bin in 😂

I'm very anal about my recycling separation and would not be happy if someone chucked some rubbish in with my plastics. I catch tradesmen doing this all the time round where I live.

Also, if you leave your bin out too long, people tend to just steal the bin. It's weird.
