I was reading about the channel 5 guy who decided not to renew the contract and he said he could have spent the money but he wanted to make british shows for British people. 😭 what about British people who like a bit of Aussie sun on their tvs daily.
i think I will be sad about this for a long while. I’m still in denial ☹️
tomorrow has come round too fast

Yep me too. Havent watched neighbours for about 25 years.
Have dipped in and out this week tho mainly to say how everyones aged 😂
Whats the story as to why theryre all leaving ramsey street?

I recently had covid. Was absolutely bed bound. Anyway i went on prime and started watching home and away from the start ☺️. Took me back … Id forgotten that Tom died fairly early on too.

It shouldn't be up to a UK channel to keep an Australian show running. The show should have worked in their budget better and Australian TV should have cared more about their own show.

Ive just had it for the first time too. Actually tested because i felt so crap. Had every symptom. Every bloody one. 3 weeks later im still not right and still have a dodgy covid cough.

Get well soon, I had it last month (for the first time too) and can understand.. Hopefully it will be worth the wait..

I agree now, Channel 5 shouldn't really be put in that position.. Then they are the bad guys when they won't play the game anymore. I was angry at Channel 5 to begin with, but have since looked at it more objectively..

I had it for the first time last month too, apparently there have been a lot of people getting it for the first time recently. Get well soon.

🙈 I can’t bring myself to delete the eps from this week. I’m kind of ready for today to be over, I’ve been sad all week so just want to cry with the finale and figure out what my evening routine will be like with no Neighbours 🥲
 
I moved countries when I was a child and due to the stress and fear I had around making new friends abroad I developed a stutter and a fear of speaking. I was bullied because of my accent too. With the combination of these, I chose not to speak.
One day I heard a girl in my class talk about a certain Stingray and Dylan - 'surely not? A neighbours fan ?? '
She was a fan.
And I built up enough confidence to talk to her about neighbours each morning on the bus before school.( The first time I ever spoke in school was about a random Janae and Brie storyline.) We got such a thrill dissecting each episode.
This girl and I have kept our friendship ( I'm her maid of honour!!! 🥰 And she will be mine, I'm sure) and our love for Ramsay Street (She's so much like Kate Ramsay!!!)
I'm so sad it is ending but so grateful for what it has given me - a talking point, an escape, a beautiful friendship, a pick me up in the afternoon after some very tough times. Thanks Neighbours

Janae Timmins was a great character. The young characters in those days were brilliant to watch. Having interesting teenager characters is something the show has struggled with in recent times. While being slightly older than the character being played I remember how sexualised she was made. She was always in a bikini or skimpy clothes. Google 'Janae Timmins Boobs' and it was more than I remember as someone of similar age.

I wonder what the legal ins and outs are when it comes to character ownership? For example if someone wanted to start a brand new show but with the same actors playing the same characters. So say some TV company was like I don't want to bring back Neighbours but I want to sign up Stefan and Rebekah to do a spin off show as Paul and Terese (which would be better than nothing). I don't know if a company could do that or there would be legal issues first to who owns the Neighbours brand and everything to do with it.
