"Yesterday Claire held my eyes for what felt like forever. It was very intense and such a gift."

"We have watched her rolled out so many times and the multiple support crew, machines, backpacks and many beeping machines makes my heart stop as they speed by."

If this was in a book I'd throw it in the bin to avoid anyone else suffering the misfortune of reading it.

The ladies over in feminist chat are talking about their experiences of playing a game they like to call 'Patriarchy Chicken'.

It consists of walking down narrow footpaths, and making no attempt whatsoever to create any room to allow an oncoming male pedestrian to pass.

They've all been vindicated when said man has thrown them a dirty look, or expressed any sort of surprise or annoyance at having to throw themsleves into traffic in order to not be taken out by a woman charging at them like a ten ton brick shithouse.

I wouldn’t do it on narrow paths but I’ve stopped moving out of the way for able bodied blokes on the street. It does surprise and piss them off quite a lot of the time. If there is a group of them they’ll expect you to move on to the road or stop and wait for them to go by rather than bunch together.

Women pretty much always give way to the menz on the street. Once you start noticing it is annoying.

I’ve never noticed it with men but the one that annoys me is when it’s a family walking four abreast. Not talking about with small children where corralling can be needed or where someone is obviously leaning on someone for support, when just it’s two parents and pre-teen/teen/even older children strolling along taking up the whole path and they expect you to go into a siding or the road to avoid them. I have absolutely done the equivalent of the chicken with them because they can easily go down to two abreast and there’d be plenty of room for me to pass.

It must be a large shed and a lot of plants with the intent to supply because they would not be interested these days in a small amount…unless they’ve got or had other dodgy stuff going on.

For her not to 'notice', she must have a huge property and grounds. I think 'workshop' was used to describe it - which puts it on the scale of a commercial hydroponics, 24 hour lighting/climate controlled environment and bypassed meter +/- a trafficked teenager to look after it version, rather than 3 stringy plants in an airing cupboard.

Didn't stop her bleeping off to Amsterdam a couple of weeks ago, though.

Same, I won't go out of my way to barge into someone but I feel like you can definitely tell when someone just assumes and expects you to move out of their way. Those people get the ol bittersweet symphony.

Ah that explains why she’s facing court.

Have to admit I usually notice it when it's more than one person walking side by side. Usually a middle aged couple or a couple of mums, in my experience.

Interesting conversation to have today though, given a disabled woman has been sentenced to three years for manslaughter for expressing annoyance at a female cyclist which led to the cyclist falling into traffic.

On the thread on there, the poster's ignored the fact that a 77 year old woman died and thinks the 49 year old being jailed is an example of the misogyny middle-aged women face in the UK. Not sure how that works in this instance, but that's mumsnet for you.
