Michael Barrymore - death in the pool

1
I've never liked Barrymore. There was always something I couldn't put my finger on. But when this happened, my dislike deepened. He's never been co operative, he's very evasive & he left the scene of a crime for god's sake! He knows exactly what happened that night but didn't want to ruin his career.

He comes across as a man who only thinks of himself. Poor woe is me Michael. It was my house, my party, my poor career etc. He hasn't given a damn about poor Stuart's family. I felt so much for his father. I don't think he or any of his other guests will ever talk though. It's disgusting.
Years ago my ex boyfriend was at an awards ceremony with his employer, Michael Barrymore, came onto him, in a harassing way, my ex cane home told me about it he was really creeped and and shaken up by it. When this came out he was convinced Barrymore was involved 😬

Is it just me not buying this 'Michael Barrymore is in DOI'
'Oops, no he isn't, he's sadly out before it begins due to injury'. ?
I'm feeling he either became too hot to handle, due to the documentary, or the whole thing was a set up to gradually ease him back into the public awareness, whilst portraying him as a likeable sympathetic chappie.
Something stinks imo.

I bet the injury is made up because of the documentary. Apparently, Channel 4 wouldn't let Barrymore see it before transmission, so DOI wouldn't want to risk anything explosive being revealed. Apparently, MB has said he wants to come back for the next series. He is not quite getting it that as far as his career goes, that train has been and gone and it's not coming back.

I said to my Mrs... If I came running inside saying

“there’s someone floating in the pool” What would you say?

Her “why didn’t you pull him out?”

Me “well I cant swim”

Her “what! Why would you say that when you can?”

Surely the fact his ex Mrs said he can swim and the fact it was MB who ‘found’ him says it all.

Also, the people seemed to say that Stuart wasn’t gay... that doesn’t mean a lot in this day does it! He could well have been a closet player for all his brother (learning difficulties?) knew. Not that it absolves what went on just saying.

The fact that there was actual signs of an enlarged a-hole seems a bit much though. I’m not in that camp but surely your a-hole wouldn’t be notably stretched out unless they’d seriously brutalised him? Even just that pool thermometer shouldn’t have left him gaped open to the point it was obviously “enlarged” and “bloody”

I’d say MB is guilty as Sinn, the fact he ‘found’ him, he’d have been the last person that’d want to find him if he hadn’t actually been there in his last moments.

The fact he didn’t pull him out the pool shows he had to prove to others he’d ‘drowned’ otherwise he’d have pulled him out if he genuinely did find him laying in the pool.

The fact that two items were missing between the police photographs and when they went back for more evidence (pool thermometer & a handle)

The fact he vanished straight after the emergency call. Ran off with the towels etc that were heavily blood soaked from the brutal probing?

And what the hell was that ‘wanna be’ geezer all about that was striding in to court grounds with the fag on the go all about!

I used to think the perpetrator was somebody else at the house, and that MB knew what happened, but wouldn’t say. But I’m fast coming to the conclusion it actually was MB. All the signs are pointing to him now IMO, with all these contradicting stories and dodgy, deceitful behaviour and actions. He was also a raging cokehead at that time, wasn’t he?

I thought the same when I saw the doc last week that he wasn't involved but knew. Reading here though my mind is changing pretty quickly, he looks like he's lot taller then Stuart was so would be easy to overpower.

I watched a amateur documentary on YouTube which stated that MB and the group left the club without his then boyfriend (who allegedly has a history of violent behaviour). The boyfriend was apparently enraged by this and went off after him. It alludes to the fact that the boyfriend's jealousy may have lead to an altercation of some kind...

I don't know what to make of it all, other than MB surely knows what happened. His reluctance to say so seems to have everything to do with his delusions that he could somehow become a star of TV again...if it just blows over.

I had a primary school friend who was a regular guest on Barrymore's 'My Kind of People' show, and the school were so proud of him they used to set up the TV and have us all watch taped footage...so 90's!. Having just re-watched some of his other shows on YouTube, I think people who rave for him to come back (including himself) are insane. His 'comedy' is so SO dated, he definitely would have fizzled out along the same path as Jim Davidson etc. I just watched a clip where he speaks to an Asian lady and a white lady who are both wearing sari's. He says to the white lady "you're not Indian, why are you wearing THAT! Did you get caught short?"...good grief! And that is barely touching the surface of his act. His habit of kissing random people, grabbing elderly audience members and dragging them around would go down like a lead balloon in this day and age!

THIS. When I was watching the documentary last week, I thought how could he make a comeback when his interactions with the audience would leave the tv company liable to be sued! His act seemed to involve him insulting the contestants. He was like a Butlins Red Coat on steroids. I used to hate it when a singer was booked on the show, and a couple of lines in, MB would appear behind them and join in the singing, even although he couldn't carry a tune in a bucket.

I can't help but think if MB didn't do he would out whoever did- he'd want to save his rep and play the victim himself.
I believe the others at the party know exactly what happened but have been warned/paid not to speak!
Vile vile man!!

When he took Essex Police to court for wrongful arrest, The Independent in Ireland reported that he had paid off two witnesses not to testify against him.

Totally agree with you! 👏 These are my thoughts exactly.

“Couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket” 😂😂😂👏

His career will never take off again, and nor should it. I don’t know why he thinks it will!

Oh! I’m just remembering, is it true he only received £1 in damages from Essex police? 😂 I heard that but can’t find it anywhere now, would be so funny if true!

I watched a clip of him on SpiceWorld (yes, the Spice Girls film) and he was not funny in it and I remember even as a child I thought his camo was really weird in it.

Didn't even realise he was in that! His shows were always on in our house, back when Saturday night TV was a big thing. I liked him but reading these comments I was likely to young to pick up on how odd and wrong his "comedy" was.

There's a clip I saw of one of his old TV programs, where an older lady was singing and he slid underneath her skirt behind her and looked up!! That to me shows he clearly does not have any respect for other people. He's a grade A narcissist, I doubt he even cares what happened that night. I don't want him on the streets nevermind back on the TV!!

Susan Boyle, before she was famous. He did it to her.

He did a soppy song as a publicity stunt 'apology' for his ex-wife/ manager, Cheryl, after he first came out as gay and his behaviour had been off the rails, due to the large amount of drink and drugs he had been partaking of. Think the line at the time was that he was bipolar, too, and that's what was triggering his bad behaviour, while he was trying to earn back some public respect. His stage-grabbing antics were becoming a bit of a bore and he was showing himself up at award shows and the like. It was called 'Too Much for One Heart!', or something like that. It was nauseating, considering how he continued to treat her. Sad, what happened to that woman, dying relatively young from cancer :(.

It might have been the Susan Boyle clip that I saw. I never watched his programs as I thought he was a unfunny, talentless bore with that bloody 'Alwight' nonsense, and being late teens/early 20's I was probably out on the razz on a Saturday night! 😉 I do remember when the crime happened, everyone I knew, pointed the finger at Barrymore straight away.
