Sooooo, I have some thoughts on yesterday's stories. If you'd indulge me.
Several take aways from her stories on the "podcast" thing:
She announced it yesterday morning as "When the baby sleeps". See picture.
When she posted about it later it miraculously changed into "When baby sleeps". See next picture.
Maybe that's nitpicky, but it bothered me lol. Especially from someone who fashions herself an author and wonderful with the words. Was there an explanation for the change? Or did she simply not notice?
And then there is the story from one of her followers that she reposted calling the podcast concept "a unique way to host a podcast" when Melanie herself admitted that she saw other YouTubers doing it this way and decided because of their example that this is how she's going to do it as well. Which is fine, at least she gave credit and said she copied the idea. But there isn't anything remotely unique or innovative about it. At all.
On another note: eco warrior queen Mel is talking about aviation again. One is about her travelling by plane SOOO much in the past (very eco-friendly) and the other is about how 143000 jobs in Ireland are dependent on the Irish aviation industry getting help.
I find that somewhat disingenuous. I found info on the IATA website on these numbers as they seemed a tad high for me. There are 39000 jobs directly in the aviation industry (which is a ton, don't get me wrong). The rest is supply chain and jobs in tourism.
If they give money to aviation companies, and only them, how is it going to help the people working in tourism or the supply chain if there are still no flights coming into Ireland and no tourists? Would they not be in a position where they only benefit if flights and tourism started up again?
Of course it might benefit them in the future if there is strong flight connection to Ireland, but I would rather think that many of them need help right now. Jobs in anything related to tourism are notoriously precarious. And shovelling money into airline companies is going to do absolutely nothing for these people and businesses at risk right now. It will however help a certain pilot. Far be it from me to suspect a selfish motivation from Melanie......
Okay, morning rant over. Happy Shrove Tuesday, I hope none of you are planning on giving up the guilty pleasure that is this forum for Lent.
