“His eyes are wide open doorways” :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
This woman cannot write for the life of her.

No she cannot. It's criminal that someone with nil talent is in the business of writing books.

I just have this ongoing image in my head of Mel reading out her garbage to Thomas every time she writes a few more words. And Thomas being like 😳😳😳😬😬😬 'yeaaaaah umm .. it's great Melanie, umm really good ... ummm'. Unlike her he has his head screwed on fairly well, he'd find her writing attempts horrendous for sure.

As if this isn't aimed directly at the in-laws LOL !! God I bet they barely tolerate her.

Or how about .. just get the duck over yourself?! You're 31 years old Melanie. A parent. A wife. And utterly self obsessed in the extreme.

Especially ironic because she said that she doesn't want to leave her son for longer than half an hour with his grandparents.
Which is it? Devoted-can't-possibly-breathe-without-her-baby-attached-to-her-24/7 Melanie or Can't-get-anyone-to-relieve-her-of-her-mom-duties-for-a-selfcare-moment Melanie? She paints herself as super mom and a martyr saying that she can't bear to leave her son with anybody for any amount of time because she wants to be with him always (making moms who might enjoy having a break from time to time feel like heartless monsters if they let her get to them). At the same times she moans that she can't even have a bath.
I am sure that Thomas's parents will happily take their grandson for an hour from time to time.

I know, her entire life is one big, confusing contradiction. I wonder if a mental health condition might play a part in that - I'm no psych but something like histrionic personality disorder, narsissistic personality disorder or even borderline personality disorder? (Correct me if I'm wrong). She has some strange traits.

A face dirty with guilt, his eyes wide open doorways and his lips scrunched up so they disappear into his face. Sounds like an exhausting combination for the face.
Honestly though, as someone who adores reading and has done since I was very very young I wouldn’t even begin to know how to imagine what this man looks like based on this description. Books are amazing for the imagination and creativity they push your brain to experience and the pictures they paint in your mind but there is literally nothing to go on here.. it’s like she’s just trying to find quirky unique ways to describe things even if they tell the reader absolutely nothing about how to imagine this persons face or features

can you imagine if Mel was witness to a crime and had to give a description of the assailant for like a composite sketch or something??:ROFLMAO: I dread to think how that would come out haha

Honestly you guys.... I think I’ve figured it out - I’m jealous 😂 she gets paid to whinge and post screenshots of pseudoscience nonsense while I have to work all day and actually use my degree. Total jealousy here.

Also, off topic - but does anyone think she will push her constant self diagnosing onto her kid once he gets older and try to exploit that? I work with children (with disabilities) so it’s something I’ve seen before, thankfully not often. The “woe is me” attitude when it’s actually the child who is struggling.

Her writing is utter garbage :ROFLMAO:

"I feel my face desaturate"....sorry what?! She relies heavily on the thesaurus, it's so jarring to read. However, as her 'mind clears itself out' when she writes this clarifies things. She brain dumps rubbish onto a page and away she goes.
I knew from her first book description that she was going to use this character as a way to critisize doctors. (Her favorite past time) But I wasn't expecting it to be so bad I can't get through a paragraph before thinking, 'that's not how that works.'

"...sometimes I'd call him in early if I was free, but then I stopped." She doesn't even need to do research to understand why this doesn't make sense. She's been in a doctors office before. They always bring early patients in if they have time, as this prevents rushed visits, over booking, and having to stay late. No doctor is going to leave someone in the waiting room when they have an open slot, especially if the next patient is known to be chatty. In real life the exact opposite would happen, he'd be dragging that patient into the office as soon as possible. I could write a small essay on all the things that don't make sense just in this small excerpt. Like, it's such lazy writing. I've read middlegrade books that put more thought and research into their character's motivations.

So much bullshit happening in one paragraph.

Mel's writing is the gold standard *not a writer* someone truly delusional, believing that they are a writer and trying so hard to reflect and be whimsical in such in a mundane paragraph 🙃 Really trying to be a deep writer musing about life while falling totally flat. Deep as a puddle.

It's the perfect example of how not to write. It's almost seems like satire but it isn't, it's just Melanie 😂

Trying hard to be Edgar Allan Poe 'ish.
Melanie's style of writing will give anyone severe migraine with aura.

I really don’t understand why people who preach about making small changes for environmental reasons don’t stop buying fresh flowers because they are so detrimental... such an easy way to help people make more sustainable choices!

I wouldn’t nit-pick about this with anyone else because I do think we all make different choices that suit us, and ignore choice that don’t (I like to do what I can for the environment, but i do like fresh flowers), but Mel just proves once again how empty her preaching and care for the environment is (the wording above is copied from her post on the re-fill shop).

As for that writing excerpt, it’s somehow worse than what was in her last book. I think she is more confident in her writing now and I don’t think that’s a good thing. Maybe the editing will fix it, but I have a feeling she wouldn’t listen to an editor, and the publishing house won’t want to waste time and money editing something that will only go on to be brought (and sadly, praised) by Mel’s fan base, and completely ignored by everybody else. Really curious to see what publishing deals she does or doesn’t get after this one!

Mel's writing is the equivalent of people going on the xfactor when they can't sing.

There's another analogy for ya Melanie, seeing as you are SO fond of firing them out.

She got published based on her platform she knows it, we all know it. Anything she may get published in future won't be based on actual talent, just like the books that came before.

She actively steals quotes and metaphors off Google and puts them in her books as her own. She does the same with her Instagram captions.

This! Even in a busy clinic in a hospital you know who your regulars are. You don’t get a list beforehand but the secretary usually lets you know that X is in that day or you see them in the waiting room and if you know they’re waiting you don’t just leave them there.

she's never spoken to a dr in her life.

I wonder why she put “unapaid” in italics? 😂 Whats the point?? Who talks like that? Melanie watches a lot of American sit-coms. She basic. 🤪
