I've just caught up and had to offer a couple of thoughts...
- Brad and Shona... i like Shona (sorry) she's stunning, sweet, and I reckon stronger than she might appear to some here. Brad though... agree with the cult leader vibes and he's the mash up of Jay from Inbetweeners and Pete Wicks, see below.
- Arthur and Ekin-Ruth... don't see the attraction about Arthur, I just see an old man's face, nice bod but bad hair and the white lies thing would worry me though I thought the vows thing caused something of an overreaction
- Liz Truss and.... what's his name... he's a sweetie, will make someone a great husband one day, wish he had healed a bit before coming on this show
- Portia and Terrence... I'm liking him, he's not into the drama. She's.... just.... awful. Probably okay deep down but I'm embarrassed for her right now
- Jay and the Essex guy... I really hope he's genuine, just a little concerned as not his first reality rodeo. So far like them both a lot.
- Tasha and Paul... she is soooo Chanita, I do want to get her a stylist, but love these two - banter's great.
- Ella and Nathanial... yeah, nah
- Peggy and David Mitchell.... he's a dick, she's growing on me but I question anyone who has enough cash to get cosmetic treatments then goes and completely overdoes it to the point they looks ridiculous. Why Peggy?????

Ekin-ruth 🤣🤣

Absolutely loving this thread!

I’ve not watched MAFS before - can someone not leave unless their partner also writes leave?

Also, wasn’t there another programme like this on a few years ago but it was waaaaaay toned down and much more realistic with the couples matching. Season one of MAFS UK was last year but this was on a few years before. Called something else?

You're not imagining it. It was called MAFS. But they legally got married, didn't have the dinner parties or commitment ceremonies and it was only on for about 3 weeks.

There have been a couple of successful couples from the last series of the old style. But they moved to the Australian format of the show as it is a more popular format, hence the UK being tagged on the end and the series starting from 1 🙂

Thank you so much for this!

Right please tell me if I'm being totally out of pocket here but the last couple of years I've tried to educate myself on trans issues and while I can't understand it myself I feel like it must be terrible to feel like you're born in the wrong body, understand they face a lot of abuse and discrimination at times and fully support adults transitioning if it'll help them mentally.

However I just don't get why a post op trans woman like Ella is so apparently hypersexual? The op as far as I know doesn't have great outcomes for PIV sex and she'd likely get nothing physically from "fingering". They lose a great deal of sensation, don't have the depth of natural vaginas and aren't self lubricating. From everything I've read I completely understand why a lot of trans people now don't go for the full op and keep their original genitals.

You have to both agree to leave and like a marriage or relationship if one says stay you have to make it work and the expert gives them tips to move forward.
It works for a day and then 💥

3 kids?!?! Well at his age hopefully 3 belong to the one person. But kids to me on an older guy is more something I want to see.

Cheats are bad news. Quite simple to end a relationship instead of purposely hurt someone for your own benefit. He always looks bamboozled 🫨

I get the feeling we are missing something with them. I think he is probably a bit to blame in a way we are yet to see 😒

I remember when we were introduced to him and he said I'd look after my lady, be the one at work and she is the homemakers etc getting my dinner 🍽 ready. Old values etc.

But he came off like he wasn't like that. She is very upset so I think his behaviour is more off camera 🤔 💭 🤔
I think though that what pound land Beyonce has failed to grasp is that if a husband is too be the sole breadwinner, he's not also going to be sat at home with her, he actually has to be out earning.

I would guess it's more to do with validation than anything?
She would see someone not immediately wanting to jump her bones as a rejection of her as a female and her female body ?

Ella thinks that’s what biological woman behave like and she’s so, so way off the mark it hurts.

I think with Ella on a personal level rather than trans in general Ella feels a need to prove herself as a woman but constantly discussing transitioning. LIVE IT!

So she wants it to be known if she wants sex she is a woman now that means fingering.
She shows her alpha male in her personality a lot.
I'm a lady too and talk about sex at times with friends but fingerings WTF I'm not 16 again 😒

she looks like a woman but that alpha male is still in her personality 😤

I know one trans and at school you just knew and she transitioned in the 90s. When society didn't get it. She does look like a female (dresses and acts like one) and hasn't been fortunate to get access to the surgical procedures to look feminine like Ella because now the NHS help you through the journey.

Ella needs to stop reminding us 😫 It's seems it her personality that's the barrier to love.

Just caught up with dinner party. My thoughts:
I'm not surprised Portia has been abandoned in the past, she needs to look at why, is she the problem?
Liz truss should not have shagged poor Thomas.
I think I like lizzy truss' trousers.
Shona and Brad will crash and burn.
Ella is filthy.
Ella very much still thinks as a bloke.
Tasha needs to lose the braids.

It’s absolutely about this! It’s no different to the sex mad one from last year either. That wasn’t because she was trans, it was because she is seeking validation, it’s a front, all bravado to try and get men to like them in hope they feel wanted but it never attracts the right person. I absolutely think that the only thing it has to do with her being trans is that validation, seeking approval which is what she has to do every day

This is my first time watching it as well so I'm not there yet with the format but it seems icky to me that if one wants to stay and one wants to leave they both have to stay. That's not how relationships work, people can walk away (and terrance should run) dunno just doesn't sit right with me. Apologies if I'm overthinking it
I agree but it's a TV show and all totally fake.
If one partner doesn't want to be with the other they can move into another flat.

I seem to remember someone walking out of the Australian version of the show and refusing to come back even though their partner wanted to stay for more attention.

If Terrance really wanted to walk out they couldn't stop him but they'll try to prolong it for a while.

I've only seen the last MAFSA, so I'm new to it myself, but pn that when it was clear the was some kind of emotional abuse (name calling etc) they obviously allowed the person who said leave to go. I don't think people would be bound to it if there was more than just disagreements

regular watcher here but I’m almost certain that in the Aus version it is more protected. If one writes ‘leave’ one week, they both have to stay but if the same person writes ‘leave’ the following week - regardless of their partners decision - then they are allowed to leave. So basically they have to give it a week but aren’t held hostage by the show as we are seeing here.

A lot of the production decisions in this series are massively concerning re welfare which just underlines how desperate and fake Channel4 are, if it wasn’t for the social aspect of watching along here with ‘friends’ then I’d be out on principle.
