It’s fkn cringe but MM really amps this up and actively encourage it. They love it. Give them a name that is appropriate for a baby and also a 40 year old accountant

Also lady, your child will grow up.

I think it’s part of why she’s so successful, it’s her brand. she’s very likeable and people find her ‘sooo relatable’ despite being loaded.
I read a really interesting article once comparing her to Roxy Jacenko and how people feel about them, it also hypothesised that how people feel about a woman’s husband affects how we view them - interesting!

She is likeable but she is so far from relatable these days...which I think she's done deliberately.

I think ZFB has ridden the Hamish gravy train all the way to the bank. Sure her skin care line is great, but it’s nothing ground breaking. I like some of the adult fiction she’s written, but her children’s books are utter tit made for a quick cash grab. She is so smug, but I am certain many doors opened for her based on her husband, not on her own talent or hard work. Also helps that she is attractive and white… I used to really like her, but lately her privilege has been showing and it’s a bit icky…

I agree with all of this, I’m sure she’s a perfectly nice person but she is extremely smug! Her beauty writing was so patronising- but I enjoyed a couple of her books when I was younger. I was so sad to see her elderly cat passed away recently, I remember seeing her photos of him when I was still in my teens which seems like forever ago! RIP Meowbert 💕

Wow I didn’t even realise who wrote it… or that it was even a Mama Mia article 🤪 in 2017 Michelle Andrews would have been about 23. Very mature and well-thought ideas and writing for a 23 year old. Yep they definitely missed out letting her (and Zara) go! And didn’t it work out SO much better for Michelle & Zara.

Also found her writing on dating and being single incredibly patronising when she was married with a kid at the time. Such unhelpful and antiquated advice which she always had little disclaimers for. I applaud her work on ensuring she was free and financially independent, she would have always wanted to improve her station in life. It’s weird how she’s managed to make herself untouchable.

Someone wrote she was so smug years ago and I wholeheartedly agree! Now I see it again @All Beige Everything and @savefloss so I know it’s a common perception. I unfollowed years ago- she was relatable and then completely out of touch. I found the vogue living spread a bit ridiculous, people lauding her style when it was a bunch of expensive quirky tit. Her trying to be self deprecating has worn down. I think she and Hamish know how bad over exposure is, so try and stay well out of the limelight.

That’s it!! Back when they made decent content. The article always stuck with me too.

Now it’s 6 years old they need to replace the bonds wondersuits with Zimmermann dresses for her daughter, and they’re in Sydney now but it’s still pretty spot on.

Don’t get me wrong also - I applaud her success and think it’s awesome she’s done well in so many avenues but I just get the icks from people behaving as if she’s their BFF from the country town and can’t see what her lifestyle actually is? Maybe I feel like she hides that a bit and it makes me uncomfortable? Not sure exactly why it bothers me tbh.

I think it bothers people when you feel like you are being sold one story and in reality it’s another. Being a great influencer is about being genuine and once they moved into richer circles, the “ordinary” person front was exposed. They are not ordinary. I prefer to follow people who own who they are - whether they have money or not.
