Jessie strikes the tone-deaf gong AGAIN
I’m sorry but her likening working as a medic in the same hospital as a family member to nepo-babies is just completely ridiculous. To be a doctor you still have to study a ridiculously hard and competitive 5/6 year long degree (UK). You can’t compare this to someone like Luca being made Head of Product at his mother’s company at the ripe old age of 25 with zero qualifications.
What is wrong with this woman, seriously?!
This whole segment was a joke. Yes Mamamia is a “family business” in the sense that a husband and wife own and run it, but it doesn’t have to necessarily be handed down to family. As they said in their discussion, nepotism leads to a lack of diversity. Maybe their subscription wouldn’t be a complete flop if they hired someone from the outside, instead of giving their son a job straight out of high school/uni. Wouldn’t have it been better for Luca to go and see how other companies do things and bring those fresh ideas and skills back to Mamamia when he has learned the trade elsewhere?
