Mamamia #3

I don't think anyone would be coming for Mia if they had been completely neutral from the start. But the way Mia has described this genocide and tried to justify and defend actions which are indefensible is what has upset people. I don't think they covered a whole lot on the Ukraine/Russia war either but she also didn't make a bunch of inflammatory comments

Honestly i don’t really need or want their takes on it. They aren’t real journalists- they’ve got one degree between the three of them, and it’s in psych, not journalism or media. They aren’t exactly going to have smart, informed takes on it are they? They should own what they are - fluff.

They really do like to pretend though.

What with being Australia’s “#1 pop culture and NEWS podcast”.

They were more than happy to give airtime to the Ukraine war, the referendum, Trump, COVID etc.

I think they’re only now pivoting into purely pop culture as it’s become obvious that they’re ignoring what’s happening in Gaza. And the global reckoning that is accompanying it.

That’s true. They’re much more comfortable crapping in about socks

Did anyone else catch the latest episode of Out Loud? Holly and Jessie were (rightfully) prioritising the plight of Palestinians and aid workers in Gaza.

Mia then jumped in with a “whataboutism” monologue AS A JEWISH WOMAN about the right of Israel to exist and how she doesn’t agree with “From the river to the sea”.

I just cannot understand that you can see the images and devastation in Rafah right now and still want to talk about how the current zeitgeist has hurt your feelings.

Actually they posted like 20+ articles on Ukraine, including this one. No mention of Israel's warcrimes....

That is the massive issue I have with a lot of the dialogue in Australia right now. I am a huge Jewish supporter, and I hate the rise of antisemitism, which I fully think is happening. There are a lot of horrid people out there taking advantage of this situation to let their racist flag fly.

But to actively compare what is happening here with LITERAL TENS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE DYING is just unfathomable to me. They are DYING. Fathers. Mothers. Children. Students.

I do believe Holly and Jessie would love to be saying more than their boss allows. On a subscriber episode a while it ago, they were talking about disagreements and tears behind the scenes about 'what should be discussed'

She exhibits classic Zionist derangement, psychopathy and sociopathy regularly. duck her.

I find the totally disconnect really jarring. The Zionist conditioning feels almost cult-like.
Anti-Zionist Jews who were raised in Zionist households and communities consistently report that the heavy indoctrination based on fear and lies begins from very early childhood.
Hence Mia’s ‘As a Jewish woman, people asking for freedom of another people makes me feel unsafe wah wah’

It must be so fucked to work for a proud supporter of an ethnosupremacist racist regime and not be able to discuss or report properly on the genocide it is committing without having to deal with her ‘whataboutisms’.

She obviously doesn’t have a clue about history either. There were many Zionist terrorist groups operating in the 40s when the British Mandate of Palestine existed, killing hundreds of British soldiers until the UN stepped in and gave Israel the land (as a result of treatment of Jews in Europe) the British gave up and left. Israel didn’t come into existence cleanly, dispite the horrors of the holocaust.

If she thinks that Israel was just this lovely little idea where Jewish people just wanted to live in peace she needs to read a bit more. Most of those suffering in Europe from the holocaust were denied entry to Israel for a long time.
