Laura outfit for anyone that missed it.
IMO, just because it's designer, doesn't mean it's nice

I’m actually here for Jacques coming in. It was nice to see some actual emotion on Gemma’s face. Was also funny to see Luca so rattled. Jacques smile and crinkly eyes are dangerous - I can totally see how 16 year old Gemma would have fallen head over heels. Especially combined with his flirty personality. I’m just pleased I’m in my 30’s and see these duck boys for what they are lol

I wish Maya Jama got the presenter job over Laura, she presented the pre final show a few years ago and was so naturally suited to it and felt like she was part of the culture of it where’s Laura does not for some reason.

I say this as someone who gets irritated by Maya popping up on everything and anything, but she was a great fit for Love Island!

Dami is my top boy at the moment and I really like Gemma.
I feel a future bombshell will see how popular he is and try it on with him but I have faith in him and Amber.

Luca is so over the top. He’s already ‘put all his eggs in one basket’. Isn’t that the one thing that the islanders aren’t supposed to do in the first week?

It does feel contrived because he sounded like he’s going home if it doesn’t work out with Gemma. Shortly before this, Liam went home because Gemma was the only one he liked. I hope I’m wrong but something feels off…
Luca is being very very tactical, there’s something fishy about him … what can I say , the man sells fish

There’s something really narcissistic about Luca. Or at best he’s a bully.

I think he picked a fight with Andrew because he’s looking for a sidekick/flying monkey. He probably picked Andrew out because he’s a little quieter and comes across as less confident IMO. He wanted to test the waters - how much would Andrew push back? He wanted to put Andrew on the back foot by inventing some made up argent and reprimanding him for it.

Andrew backed down and apologised and thus made himself a clear mark for Luca.

I saw it again we Luca wanted reassurance over the arrival of jacques. He was talking a load of random crap about Gemmas perfume being on his jumper and basically positioned Andrew as a soundboard for that reassurance. Andrew went along with it because he seems pretty mellow and easy going.

Then trying to rile Andrew up was clear manipulation. He was essentially trying to set Andrew against Jacques because he felt threatened by Jacques. It’s manipulative, it’s passive aggressive and it’s a subtle bullying tactic that once again - is so disappointing to see happen on LI.

I really hope Andrew clocks what’s happening and pushes back more assertively. Luca is bad, bad news.
exactly this! luca is hoping for others in his corner who dislike jacques for being forward with 'their' girls, surprised he hasn't made a comment to davide yet but maybe he has. manipulating others for strength in numbers so jacques looks the bad guy and backs off from gemma

Thoughts on Gemma the protagonist:

- She's definitely just a teenager pretending to be an adult, who is shockingly blunt and rude due to her privileged upbringing but seems to also have a naturally dry personality and sense of humour.

- Although just a teenager, I think she has more confidence and life experience than some seem to think, it's just highly privileged life experience.

- I'm on the fence about her being socially awkward, I feel like she might just genuinely believe she's superior to regular people and not need to look at them, or maybe she's socially awkward when talking to regular people for that reason.

- I also feel like she could have been stand-offish and uninterested in the others for the above reasons, as well as just waiting for her ex to come in and for the show to get started. It's the most animated we've seen her, she seemed delighted he was there, not shocked.

- The possessiveness and objectification of her from Luca and Davide has been gross. In fact (from the show and media) the whole focus on, and messing with a teenager's love life on TV like this is just gross. He's going to have been her first love/s, and when you look back 10+ years down the line at your early 'adult' experiences at 16-19 it feels very different. It makes me sad for her.

- I think she's an entitled, privileged, witch who probably thinks she's in control, when actually she's an exploited young woman being used for entertainment due to her good looks and connections.

- Also Paige isn't the only Welsh girl in there!

Finally, Jacques comes across like he thinks he's too good for Pagie, and any of the other women who aren't the daughters of multi-million pound footballers, it's all so glaringly obvious. His arrogance and mouth are really unattractive.

100% AGREE with everything you said!!

I don't like his comedy teeth, it's giving that Scottish guy from last season. I'd be happy if he goes.

Looks like the Y2K bug left her behind in 1999.

I don't know that I can keep watching this season. Every season it gets harder and harder because it's so obvious what's happening. It's all been to get them back together isn't it..

It's just going to be all about Gemma and in the 5 mins per ep that it's not that, it'll be Ekin Su changing lanes as quickly as possible until she gets dumped.

I really want to see more of these two. Dami is getting more and more funny as well. If they don't show us more of the other couples and some challenges soon it's going to be hard to not to check out mentally.

I think Luca is trying to go for the Liam and Millie or Tommy and Molly-Mae angle with Gemma. I don’t think he actually gives a duck about her really. Just sees her as the best chance he’s got for fame.
I thought that too.

Also Afia annoys me. She is a pretty girl but seems a bit boring and doesn’t really bring anything to the show. Plus she sounds really nasally whenever she speaks. And the nose ring definitely doesn’t suit her
I feel a bit sorry for Afia tbh.. Right from the first evening, everything was Ekin sue, Ekin sue, ekin sue… Now nobody actually talks about Afia 😫

I watch in the morning, so I have just caught up with last nights show and thread 4.

Dami - thought he was the best looking from the start but love his personality coming through. Still my favourite. 😍

Gemma - I dont know if she is just completely guarded because of who she is and really hyper aware of what she is saying / how she is acting. If that is the case they need to stop casting children of famous people. Or if she is a normal 19yo who has spent 2 years in lockdown. Her bday is 1st May so 18 months ago she'd have been 17.5 so 8 months before that she was 16 and dating a 20/21yo? Where did she meet him? Michael Owen cant 'watch LI' but was happy that a grown ass man was clearly banging his 16yo.

Luca - walking red flag. The constant grabbing and holding of Gemma when she isnt reciprocating in any way is just alarming to me. It makes me cringe and feel uncomfortable. I think he is probably used to getting whatever women he likes and not having to work v hard at it.

Ekin Sue - try hard, think she still is under the impression the only way to get a guys attention is to be hyper sexual, a much less likeable Maura.

The rest are just blah. I dont hate this season, not yet. I am willing to give it a try. My recording cut off as Gemma was talking ti Jacques so not sure if I missed anything else?

Luca has gone from 0-100 real quick!

Hahaha I agree to all this. I’m not 30 but when I was 21/23 I went through my fair share of these types of lads. I’m not sure if I want them to get back together. But if Lucas this bad over one what’s he gonna be like when the second one comes in 😂😂😂

Don't they usually have this episode of meeting the parents of the finalists? I hope Gemma would be able to make it to that episode so her father could make his LI appearance!!🤩
