the victim of gaslighting starts to feel unsure about their perceptions of the world and even wonder if they are losing their sanity

Just because your mate says "sorry you think I hurt you" doesn't make them a gas lighter. What makes one a gas lighter is if the victim questions their own reality. I know what gaslighting is all too well having experienced it before.

You severely underestimate the "question your own reality/ feel unsure about perceptions of the world" bit. This whole thing is about heavy manipulation not just some head behaviour like we've seen.

He can say "that didn't happen" or "it happened differently to how you remember" - that's not gaslighting until the victim believes the abuser's word over their own.
That’s not how it works. It doesn’t only count as gaslighting if the victim falls for it for goodness sake. The treatment is still the same no matter how the victim reacts to it.
What you’re saying is like stating that giving someone a slap is only violent if the victim says it hurt.

“We” don’t. I obviously do and she’s been mentioned on her before as annoying. She does a well known podcast on love island which is good in some ways but her bias to certain contestants tends to takeover. It’s annoying because she does good breakdowns and has had good guests but the last two seasons she’s just really let her feelings on certain contestants take over and as host of the podcast I wish she’d be a bit more diplomatic.
Orlaith’s latest guest was totally merciless about Gemma in the last night’s edition, to the extent I felt uncomfortable and would not like to meet this woman on a dark night: yes I’m being facetious but I am asking myself “why” 😞
Otherwise Dani is redeemed fully .. ‘he made a couple of mistakes but has moved on and is once again a beam of inspiration’ …
and the wheels on the bus go round and round...

So, by your logic someone’s bad intentions should be ignored until they negatively impact the target?

I really hope she doesn't. Is it public deciding or islanders? I was too raged to hear that last night 🤣

I hope she doesn’t either. I really like her. Ekin Su is obv my queen but I do like Danica as well. She’s the only one that will call everyone out on their tit. Get paige out.. knock her down a peg or two!
dunno never heard it either cause I kept shouting they better not bleeping drag this out. Me looking at close ups with crappy music in the background for all of 4 mins waiting on an answer and then they end the programme😡

I’ve noticed her last few guest have been really anti the show and which is fine but… don’t come On a podcast to discuss how much you hate it then?

We’ve seen Gemma twice now sitting with the girls questioning herself saying “did I do something wrong?”

Is anyone else preparing themselves for the ultimate disappointment when Gemma’s mother comes in to the villa? I have a feeling (because of mental health) production won’t allow her to tell Gemma to bin him off. Meeting the parents is usually a soppy occasion and, from what I can recall, there’s never been a family come in and say they don’t agree with the relationship or dislike a person. I genuinely don’t think the producers will allow it to be anything else than a cringey puke-fest full of hugs, kisses, smugness and the ever-classic “oh wow I can see where they get their looks from 😍” suck up comments

So it’s all on the victim yet again????? I’m sorry I don’t agree. The whole point is the abuser is CHOOSING to use the manipulative techniques in order to TRY to get the victim to believe their words over reality.
Teddy’s brothers last year made it a bit obvious that they didn’t like Faye

I don’t think it’s weird to mention a podcast related to the show?
Neither do I.
This is particular one is helpful for the likes of me who sometimes misses a bit or can’t understand what some of them are saying [can I have a consonant please Rachel] ..
We all like different things but the podcasts are generally a gazillion times better than the crud that is Aftersun (IMO).
