It CRINGES me out that this show has grown consenting adults talking about sex in codes regarding ‘salons’.
I remember the good ole days of Love Island when a woman would bounce up and down on a man’s cock and it was televised To the nation.
What has this fuckin show become. ‘Oooooh was the salon open for any couples lastnight’.
Get in the fuckin bin !!!!

This is an adult show for adults broadcast after the watershed. Why is it appealing to teenagers who may or may not know what the codes are in regards to ? It’s creepy as fuck.
Let’s call a penis a penis and a wank a fuckin wank.

Do you think it’s the producers choice or people higher at ITV? 🤔

Last night’s show was so boring. The show took a nose dive once Casa was over and Jacques’ exit.

Re: Gemma and Luca‘s run, I think the producers would love to have some gushy or a favorable edit for them. But I think due to Luca being Luca, they are still struggling to show anything good of him, bar the odd one liner. What we are seeing as always is his petty and petulant behaviour. That conversation last night about ‘who’s punching in the couples’ showcased how stupid and deluded Luca is.
It also doesn’t help that while Gemma is pretty, she is quite bland, very forthright and not really a gushy/PDA slushy type like Paige. So in comparison, Gemma and Luca can look quite dour in comparison to other couples.

To wrap up: they can’t give Luca a favorable lovely edit because he isn’t giving them any content. He’s not stopped loving about not going exclusive. On the contrary, they are probably burying a lot of not so nice Luca content!

I don’t think we’d be getting the edit we’re getting if it wasn’t leading somewhere. Not when everyone else seems so happy by comparison. ITV want Gemma but I don’t think they’ll be pushing Gemma/Luca so a Gemma finds herself and dumps Luca narrative kind of suits them. Its what they did with Liberty last year.

I don’t they’ll make the final clearing the way for Paige/adam or Indiyah/dami by default.

I think the producers are marketing this show at a younger audience. I really think it’s geared towards teenagers at this stage. Probably for their next fuckin recruitment drive 🙄.
But I definitely think it’s the producers. Apparently it started with the (I THINK) season 5 who started the ‘Do bits society’ or maybe they were season 4. But it was lads banter. The producers ran with it and every year there’s been a ‘new theme’ and they’re not allowed to repeat the previous years theme. I think Toby said that in an interview last year, so they had their own thing I can’t remember what last years one was. But it sounds like since we had ‘do bits society’ on Primark tees the fuckin producers push it every year.

I've loved this season purely because of Ekin and Davide but only the first three seasons had any sort of genuine interraction to them. This season is waaay too overproduced and I HATE the format of - wakeup chat girls - wakeup chat boys - contrived discussions about their relationships with their partners - boring night stuff. And the fucking euphemisms of "the salon" cringe me out.

I wish they'd have actually shown it but at least he apologized.

There is so much we don’t see and I totally get that there isn’t time to show everything, but after the reaction his comments towards Ekin got, they really should’ve showed him apologising to her.

Totally agree with the self-sabotage comment as well. They’ve both clearly got their guards up because of past relationships, and all of the comments Davide made about her were a way of protecting himself if she hurt him again. The same can be said from them not taking their relationship too seriously at times too. You really can see a change in them both over the last week or two. 🫶

Agreed, It feels like I’m watching a bunch of high schoolers

Also apologies if this is the wrong thread for this, but I just started the new love island USA and did they have enough applicants or whatever, that they had to send in an English girl for the show? 🤣

Found this in my camera roll 😭😭

Just catching up with lastnights Love Island.
After all the rave reviews I seen online regarding Gemma and Paige it’s left me wondering.
Does nobody know the fuckin black eyed peas ??????????

All they did was sing badly to the song …

Did people think they made this up ?
I imagine it’s mostly the teens watching? My Humps is 17 years old and not their most well known song

This is one of the frustrating aspects of the show. The earlier seasons were geared for adults and showed everything to an extent! The reason for this diluted and nanny state programme we have now is two-fold: a) the programme grew in popularity and became very mainstream; b) there were complaints from parents whose teens / pre-teens were watching the show. As a consequence to both parts, the show has been made more family friendly, predictable & over-produced to within an inch of it's life.

Now this is a post-watershed, 9pm show. If we want to watch people bouncing on each other, we should be able to see that. No one's kids should be up nor watching programmes after the watershed. But here we are - a show that uses "salon" terminology amongst adults talking about their sexual shenanigans. Lame.

EDIT: To answer @Miss.Chanandler.Bong , I think it's mainly ITV who have dictated this. I'm sure the producers would love to push some more racy content but they're hands are tied with probably some golden handcuffs deal with ITV. Maybe the show should be moved to C4 / C5 / Sky?

EDIT2: I'm basing this on the assumption that a separate production company makes the programme for ITV. So they are under pressure from ITV (and it's execs/shareholders) to "tone things down" for wider mass appeal. But I could be wrong.
