I read the article, thanks for sharing!
As much as I liked the show I can’t get my head around her immaturity and sense of entitlement. I presume when she was appointed to the show 11 years ago it was because someone else’s contract wasn’t renewed, why did she think she was too good to receive the same treatment. Its reported constantly that broadcasters are dropped, chopped and changed at the behest of RTE management, based on the profile of the listenership. She admitted herself she felt at 40 she was becoming too old for the show and had started seeking other opportunities, why does she feel that RTE are not entitled to do the very same thing? I work in HR and unfortunately have managed a lot of redundancy projects and the timing of the messaging is critical. The fact that she didn’t take that on board and went out with the news herself is childish and completely unfair for those in her team who would have seen it on social media before hearing it from their employer. Just selfish.
The comment at the end about looking to work with RTE again are comical, you’ve just done a hatchet job on the management there! I dont agree with the way RTE engages people, they can afford to treat people better than they do but she was well aware of the shortcomings it seems and was prepared to put up with them until it affected her directly, again I get it but if they’re pissed off enough to completely cut ties after her going out with the news before they wanted her to, I can hardly see them welcoming her back. The fact that she cannot see the reason why she didn't get that ‘adult’ conversation is wild. She lost that opportunity when she threw her toys out of the pram because RTE dared to treat her the way they treat everyone else?!
