I hope this is in sequence

I cant believe she is surprised there has been no communication from them since! If I read that right she announced her departure before they gave her the go ahead. How immature is that! She says she was always professional but that is very unprofessional!

I know I just mentioned my own redundancy but my boss told just 3 people one week before it happened what was going on. I was one of those people and he swore me to secrecy. I told no one as I couldnt risk it getting out. I also had too much respect for him that I wouldnt have done that to him.

It does seem 2FM are absolute nightmare employers with apparently zero HR. And maybe I'd have gone "duck it" and decided I owed them nothing. Its not as if the outcome would have changed, its not as if staying quiet and allowing them to put out a nice neutral statement would have made them rehire her at some point. That ship had sailed clearly.

So I'm not going to necessarily judge the wisdom of announcing the firing her own way.

But I think that this interview is ill-advised in general.

She doesn't seem to understand that future employers won't want someone who witches about past employers. She talks about RTE but why would they want her? They are a national broadcaster who wants someone on camera who is smiley and easygoing. That is, unless you have a background in news journalism where they seem happy to transition you to current affairs content. But they don't hire people who have Main Character Syndrome, they just DON'T.

I don't think she comes out well after that interview to be honest! I initially felt quite bad for her when it first broke that she was being dropped but reading this it appears she could have had a very tailored end to her last few shows - the statement on IG just made her a liability and she's proven that by the way she appears to be so hard done by.

Its the nature of contractual work that there's always a possibility it won't be renewed. For prospective future employers they'd want to be wary considering how she's speaking about RTE!

And also its entirely plausible that 2FM got wind of her having a meeting with Radio 1 to discuss her potential future there. Why renew the contract of someone who is actively looking elsewhere?

The place she enquired about, the place she was fired from and the place she's talking about wanting to go to in the future.......theyre all essentially the same company! Why would that company touch her with a bargepole now?!

Ireland is very small and the radio broadcasting options so limited - bit dangerous going out badmouthing RTE when that’s literally your only option AND your husbands current employer (also probably on a tenuous contract!!). Also why didn’t she ask for a exit interview? Since she’s such a grown up

the sad childhood and illness stuff is so irrelevant??

louise is actually a self employed contractor as most are in RTE/2FM they are not employed in the normal sense, that’s why her agent called to say contract not being renewed.
No sick pay/annual leave/p45 or exit interviews required. So to be fair she should have opened up the communication long before the contract renewal was approaching if she really wanted to stay , pitch them new ideas etc
BUT she was starting to see if the grass was greener in more serious journalism i.e RTE 1. They probably took one look at her toxic airy fairy woke personality & advised 2fm to cut her loose.

This. Whatever about the ins and outs of the non-contract renewal, I wouldn't be airing the dirty laundry in public. Especially if you want future high profile radio/tv work AND if your husband is employed with them. I know she says "there are some great people there etc etc", but the overall tone of interview doesn't look great. She got 11 years out of them, in what seems a pretty precarious industry, they don't owe her anything and vice versa. Better to just keep stum and use interview to talk about "all the exciting stuff I have coming up" and when Indo ask about 2FM just say "it came to a natural end, no hard feelings etc".

All that said, the woman has been through a lot growing up and have plenty of sympathy on that front.

And I haaaaaate the styling in the shoot. They have literally put her in a green tent! Made apparently from tent material! She's always talking about fashion for fat people and this is how she portrays it?!

She doesn't look her best in these pics- much prettier on her insta feed.I thought the article was pretty dire - she will never work for RTE again, that's for sure. And as for the "Millennium Marian Finucane - feck off. She's the Queen of woke who thinks she is far more relevant than she really is.Those pics of her and her friends down in Kerry really showed what a diluded bunch they are.

It’s amazing the difference between insta and reality isn’t it, not a cheekbone in sight in those photos in the magazine. Sure their all bloody at.

Laura Fox at the Weekend will feature a mix of the music, ticket giveaways, and “positive vibes” on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 9am.

Positive Vibes, eh? Basically it sounds like they completely pivoted into a younger direction. On Sunday there's going to be a "celeb news" bit. It's going to be bright and breezy. A world away from Louise's brand of worthy earnestness.

Laura Fox is about 31 so I guess that blows Louise's theory that only she can represent the woman in her 20s and 30s out of the water.

I don't think they treated her badly or if they actually did then I think the place to address that is the WRC not whingeing about your feelings to a magazine. Although I'm sure she's aware of there simply is no case to answer.
What I take from the article today is that she was expected to act in a professional manner regarding the issue, she didn't act in any way professional and took to social media with her hurt feelings so they took that as a sign she couldn't be trusted to act professionally on air which I think is perfectly reasonable.
I was not a fan of the show and whenever I was working the weekend morning it was on it was the one show everyone was in agreement to turn the dial and tune out on but perhaps the podcast route would suit her perfectly as it would allow those who did enjoy her to listen to her.
