They were! She was a police informant and he seemed friendly with her, he said he used to do odd jobs round the house etc. John was a young child at the time though so not sure he could be Hastings’ son (I think I saw this theory properly disproved somewhere), but I think that’s probably why he gave the money to Steph. In the interview in s5 he looks completely shocked and emotional when he realises John was Anne Marie’s son.

I thought that Corbett was deemed to have potentially been corrupt due to his actions and therefore his wife didn't get the Death in Service benefit or his police pension. He had been tricked into thinking Hastings was dodgy and hadn't been in contact with his handler for a long time. I think that's why Steve was suspicious as she probably only had John's personal life insurance (which likely would have paid off the mortgage).
Tony Gates there wasn't enough evidence that he was corrupt and his wife received the death in service benefit and his pension. He had that conversation with Steve before he walked in front of the lorry.
Cannot believe what Kate did tonight. So mad at her. Still bloody love Steve. It does seem like Jed is taking steps to revamp the series. It would be hard for Kate to come back to AC-12 as Steve won't trust her and I wonder if Steve will be disciplined for possibly prescription fraud. Gives them a fresh start with Hastings and a new team next series or a new AC unit. Would be gutted as I love Martin and Vicky and they seem to love working together and on the show.

Yeah she was in season 1 - he'd put her and Natalie to sleep, read to them, went to their school etc.
Tbh because her last name's Bishop now (if it is her) it's easy to have missed it!

They have never said, but as a scouser - I recognise the location.. It’s fairly subtle so I wouldn’t expect too many non Liverpudlians to spot it.
