Remember when Robbie left Take That and they had to set up a helpline for all the little suicidal teenyboppers? I think they need to do a LOD one. I for one have not slept properly for two nights going over and over it in my head.🥴 I think I'm going to have to watch the entire 6 series all over again for some sort of release unless it tips me over the edge. At least we can all agree on one thing. That wee lad Terry Boyle has gone to live in a nice house (better than Gill Biggeloe's anyway) and we can rest assured there will be a serious case review into why he spent five years of his life with Jackie Laverty stuck in his Currys freezer!

I think part of the problem with the reveal for me was that as soon as they said Lighthouse and the murder case, you knew had to be Buckells because Osbourne wasn’t involved in Lighthouse to the extent he’d be writing notes.

They obviously wanted you to think Osbourne, down to having a police officer who looked vaguely like him from the back escorting Buckells in, but it couldn’t have been. So they had the big X factor style reveal... of the only person it could be.

If they hadn’t just ruled out Osbourne, then Buckells would have been a massive shock and the reveal would have worked, IMO.
I think as soon as the opening credits mentioned the actor playing him I knew it would be Buckells.
Why else would he be in the finale?

Ok, so did we ever find out what the letter 'H' had to do with the eventual person? I'm struggling to see where the letter comes into it.

i also did not get the counsellor part 🤷‍♀️
I think we had been led to believe that Steve was gonna get caught for drugs so they had to add in that bit to show it was only a welfare check and not a removal from duty for drugs.
Also when he got his firearms license took off him it was only to further lead us to suspect something bad would happen to him as he had no means of protecting himself. But miraculously he managed to defeat a gun toting balaclava man with just a taser.

I may be interpreting things wrongly here but here are my thoughts after reflecting on it a bit.

buckles saying there’s no institutionalised corruption, it would never be admired by the police force so it’ll never get investigated properly along with the very close comparisons to JillDando and Stephen Lawrence is maybe highlighting how the police will never admit fucking up those cases let alone being involved out knowing that those at higher levels were involved. Hence it doesn’t exist.

the disappointment we all felt at the ending, imagine being the loved ones of those two People in particular, imagine the consuming disappointment and pain at every turn looking for justice you are hit with another no or mistake etc. Imagine what it’s like day after day to have something so huge s as the murder of a loved one reduced to ‘no evidence of wrongdoing’ or even knowing the wrong person was convicted?
Feels like Jed has shone a light onto police wrongdoings.
As I said I could be wrong but I feel the injustice I felt at the shit ending was quite poignant

That Buckles smirk at the end was interesting

When Dot Cottan gave his dying declaration Kate said to him blink when she got to the letter ie A B C D he blinked on H so therefore they thought the top man was someone with the initial H. HOWEVER, in the last episode of the last series Steve is looking at a video of Dot and realise with his fingers he is tapping out out morse code They deduced from that there were 4 bent coppers . Hope that helps.

which in real life he wouldn’t of had as it’s classed as a firearm 🤷‍♀️

Having not really listened to the SOD podcast I thought I’d give a go listening to last weeks and the start of this week before heading back in the series to listen. I really struggled with it but when they just admitted in this last podcast that they didn’t know who Buckells was last year. Who can’t remember the bumbling brummie from previous series? 😂

I really want to go out out (little Micky Flanagan reference there 😂) with the SOD lads. I will be chasing them down when I go to Dublin for the rugby 😂 I can’t get into CP’s podcast at all
Oh god me too, they would be total gas!!! CP is up his own arse!
