yeah too predictable to be Osborne. I think Andrew Laverty. Him and Jackie set it up but when she left him and he potentially found out she was with Tony he had her killed so she wouldn’t reveal anything to him
I keep wondering whether it will come back to the Lavertys, that’s where the initial investigation started after all. Also very interesting Steph Corbett invested in a “hairdressers”, I do wonder whether that will come up again. Could be relevant, could be a Jed herring, you just never know with LoD 😩

Tbh I'd be fine with Osborne being the final H figure but only if another reveal came with it I.e Steve or Kate being in on it all along or something. I think at this point the only way we're going to be shocked as an audience is if Steve or Kate end up being bent, there are so few other avenues left to explore now

I know what you mean, I think we have to accept that Osbourne is involved in some way (whether he’s “H” or not), but it would be interesting to see who else might be involved, I agree with you that it would have to be someone shocking. But equally I’ll be devastated if it’s Ted, Steve or Kate 😂

I don't think Osbourne is too predicable, we only really dealt with him briefly in series 1, and then haven't really heard from him since until now when it's all starting to unravel and you realise he's been linked to everything all along. I think it makes sense for him to be involved in someway, but I don't think it's predictable. Maybe if we'd seen him throughout then yeah I could go there.

H suspects (assuming they've been in since series 1)

-Hastings. Looks guilty as hell, suspected in season 5 and somethings are still at a loose end- why he told Banks about corbett, why he got his laptop trashed (lets not believe it was because of porn!)

- Steve and Kate-both seem a bit young- they'd have been in their late 20s/early 30s in series 1, and given Hunter's involvement, it's likely H was an older person who recruited Hunter. The other "3 H's" weren't really the masterminds, just the key people in the police, none of whom weren't particularly that smart. Could have been passed on, but seems a bit of a crappy ending.

-Nigel Morton- is he Keyser Soze?! He was happy to go along with Dot suggesting someone else was the cady in series 2, he was tipping journalists (to cause drama?!). He "retired" at the end, so he wouldn't have so much influence in the police, but could have set up enough of a network he doesn't need to be active.

- Buckells- already addressed.

-Osborne- too obvious. He's clearly corrupt and awful but he's basically a pantomime villain.

-PC Karen larkin and PC Simon Bannerjee-Larkin was one of the absolute worst. She went into Terry's flat and totally dismissed him-a quick check and she might have found Jackie Laverty in his freezer and saved Terry from a decade of not having ice cream or frozen chips. Was that on purpose?! She also told Bannerjee to stop chasing Ryan, was she making sure he was free or just rubbish? Ryan cited Bannerjee as an influence for him being on the force. We have no idea what happened on the estate after series 1.

- Keeley Pilkington- Ryan's mum was young and seen complaining in the police station and then later, lying on the sofa. Doesn't seem like she has the energy to be a criminal mastermind but the impression is given she let Ryan get into trouble and gang activity, was she a deadbeat parent or was it an act?! (highly unlikely but stranger things).

- DS Leah Janson- basically just there to stir things with Kate, which seems like a bit of a waste, she didn't really o anything. Could be misdirection, but highly improbable).

There's some other super minor characters- the old guy on the estate (double bluff?!), the lawyer or social worker who goes to the interview with Ryan, a few other police officers but that would be a bit of a cop out.

I like your summing up here RobinsNest. Of all these, my favourite would be Nigel Morton.

I like the idea that ‘H’ refers to Hillside as mentioned previously.
I really don’t want any of the main three to be corrupt as I’ll feel cheated.
I think Morton would be very interesting, he’s old enough though I think he was a DC wasn’t he? So arguably not high up enough but I suppose it depends who else he potentially has on side.

I hate that Ted is still looking a bit iffy, I’m desperate to think he’s not bent 🤣

I don't think it's any of the Big 3. For one thing, where would they get the time? They seem to work all hours. And if they've been criminal masterminds for years, where are the benefits; the big houses, flashy cars, designer clothes? It doesn't seem worth the risk or the effort!
That’s true, Ted was struggling to pay his hotel bill and Kate was sleeping in her car at one point 🤣

And it can't be Steve or he wouldn't have hot chucked down the stairs knackering his back and leaving him so he can't get it up. Definitely no benefit to being the OCG boss for our WWW.

Off topic but how fit did Steve look in his jeans and vest
Well fit. He’s come a long way, Oor Marty boy.

Hate to derail slightly, but OH and I watched a movie a few nights ago - SoulBoy. Martin is in it with Alfie Allen. Tommy Hunter and Dot’s actors are both in it too. It was quite good! 😂

I get the impression this series isn’t the last and so I’m setting myself up to not find out who or what ‘H’ is! I would love it to end on a high this season with a really satisfying ending but I have a feeling it’s now so popular the writers and the BBC will want a 7th season. I do wonder how much more they can eek out this story of us almost finding out who it is and then oh no you don’t!

I still think Ted's wife is in it somehow.
So do I.

For some reason it really stuck in my mind when she told Ted that she'd met someone else. (Not sure why, it just made an impression). Now I'm wondering if she's going to turn up in S6 either dating or married to someone we know.....someone with a bit of money and a more flashy lifestyle than Ted could give her. I wouldn't be surprised.
