I'm wondering if the "spoiler" was just a publicity stunt? It's weird there's no details of it on twitter or reddit. All the tabloid sites are running the same story with the same 5 stars as potential guesses.

I reckon Robert carlyle is a good shout though

Totally agree. Just finished series 5 yesterday and Ryan mentions his name pointedly during his interview to join the police. I thought it was like a code word of sorts so the interview panel would know who they were dealing with.

If it's Idris Elba I think I might actually turn off. You can't dump Luther in the middle of Line of Duty!

Robert Carlyle would be great. Scottish connection obviously adds up, and a mini Trainspotting reunion between Begbie and Diane ❤

It'll probably be none of those people though 😂

All those spoiler tags made that a very stressful post to make 😂
