Kept James O'Brien on this morning without realising. I really don't know what he's suggesting with regard to schools. What does he suggest we do?

I don't think he even knows, he seems to be going round in circles.
Plenty of faux laughter from him though.
He also wants to tell his adoring fans about his night at the theatre soooo badly

There are over half a million in the UK with a HGV licence. It has now transpired of that number, only around 200k drive a lorry.

Therefore why have 300k people with a HGV licence decided not to drive for a living?

Probably because the pay, perks and hours are crap.

I don't know what the average pay for a lorry driver is but I think we can all agree they have proved to be essential to keeping the country going.
They need a Union like the tube drivers have. It is a gutty job in many regards.

Well as he opened his show by boasting about only doing 3 minutes of research I guess he will have kept repeating himself.

As low as £10 per hour (agency work) :oops:which is shocking.
Some really powerful calls to Julie Etchingham this afternoon about prison, offenders & victims.
Some brave folk calling in.

This afternoons show has been brilliant. Really great calls from all the different perspectives. This is what LBC can do really well when it wants to.

I'm really starting to fan girl over Julie. She's been terrific.

It certainly was.
Hopefully we'll hear more of her, either as a stand in again or maybe on weekends?
Be great to hear Julie in Ferrari or O'Brien's slot.
Matthew Wright, Lammy or Rachel Johnson could easily make way at weekends, I may even tune into LBC on the sabbath if this was the case 😁

I don't think Rachel Johnson bings much to LBC. I'm a bit disappointed in her, I always thought she'd be a good addition.

I just listened to the first hour of her programme today. She’s very measured.

She's been a news anchor for many years and chaired things like the general election debates and covered royal weddings and stuff. She's supremely professional.

I’m familiar with her but never heard her in radio. I prefer ITV news to the BBC except when the friend of the Royal Brothers Tom Brady does the news.

O'brien has informed the listener of his age (49 & a half) three times in the opening 30 minutes of his programme.
He may well be mid mid-life crisis, fully expecting him to tell us next week that he's ordered a 3.7litre, V6 Morgan Roadster, with Yarwood leather interior.

He's obsessed with his age. He always has been. He mentions it an awful lot.

I was listening to Nick and Carol's podcast last night, it was pretty good. I don't always listen to them, but it's so much different to Nick's show on LBC.

I like how Carol called out Nick for calling a republican in USA a 'nutty republican' by saying 'no nikkers, he's a republican, not a nutty republican. Just a republican' haha.

Also, he said Carol lives in Belsize park and he lives not far from there, so Nick must live in Hampstead.
