Is Shelagh off ill?
Agree, Julie Etchingham is excellent & would be a great addition to LBC

I think Shelagh had a planned week off. Not sure you'd get someone like Julie Etchingham for a last minute fill in. However, Shelagh has been tweeting that she is having a flare up of a back problem she has and can't get any medical assistance from either 111 or her GP.

Who Nick A or Deisegal ?

deisegal. She sent a tweet to LBC about Camilla and Camilla said it had sinister overtones 😝

A friend of mine in Cornwall is in pain with her arm (cannot move it and is extremely painful). She actually got to see her GP this afternoon. She has been referred to a local hospital, who have told her she will have to wait "about 3 hours". Meanwhile she is in pain.

Have you ever been to Barebum Bay? May well be therapeutic, it's a lovely resort in Wales according to Steve Allen. 😁

Anybody know if those restaurants Steve talks about are highly rated or not? Going to London for a few days next month and thought about trying out the restaurants he has spoken about. I think one is Joe Allens and what's the Italian one he speaks about?
Joe Allen could or could not have celebrities inside. I’ve been there a few times, but to the old one. Once was for a Thanksgiving dinner spread and another time for lunch. The Chiltern Firehouse is a celeb hangout.

I’d also recommend going to a Dishoom if you haven’t been. The one in Covent Garden is nice.

Yeah there are quite a few I'd like to go to, but it's just time. I'll only be there for 3 days, maybe I could stay a little longer as I haven't been to London for a long time. There was one where Phillip Schofield and Andi Peters were the other week. I can't remember the name, but I think it was one of those celebrity chef's restaurants. It might be a Heston Blumenthal restaurant I think. As well as restaurants, there are some good street food places I'd like to try too.

I do hope you have deep pockets - if not borrow Steve Allen's trousers !!!!!!

I think there is going to be a food festival on the Southbank in September.

@hotspothunter and @notsobasiclondon are good insta accounts for London food info.

Greenwich Market, Broadway Market, Old Spitalfields Market, Columbia Road, Alexandra Palace Farmers Market are good to visit if you are there at a weekend. Also, Crosstown Donuts are excellent.

He made a fool of himself again tonight with his speech. Of course both James O'Brien and Nick Abbot now look fools for supporting him and for their continued attacks on Donald Trump. The only decent part of all this was Trump's move to get the US out of Afghanistan.
Seems James has fallen foul of legendary LBC listener Colin from Windsor, James has got things wrong & the Afghanistan withdrawal mess is not important

James can't have an opinion on Afganistan either because he was away when it happened

Plus Brexit is being discussed still quite regularly but it's taken on a different guise. Shortages are constantly being discussed but now more in a way of how it could have been prevented and how it can be resolved. I think even James has given up now dwelling on the fact Brexit was a terrible idea. We're 5 years down the road now. It's not magically going to be reversed. Personally, I think the government need to give financial help to encourage people to do their HGV/ LGV licenses. It's very expensive.

I did have a little giggle at Tim Martin's predicament though. First he was whining he couldn't get any staff and now he's whining he hasn't got any beer.

One of my brothers is an HGV driver, he was in the British Army at the time he decided to get his licence, and passed his test while serving, he probably wouldn't have been able to afford it otherwise.
Certain folks elsewhere could log off, stop the doom mongering & go help the nation by getting an HGV licence, just a thought... 😁

One of the supermarkets, I think it was Morrisons, was offering silly money to get HGV or LGV's to work for them on their days off. Got that info from a couple of firemen who are LGV holders.

I really hope they can get Julie Etchingham more regularly on LBC.

The weekend line up could do with a refresh. She could replace Matt Frei in the Saturday 10 am slot as he hasn't amounted to much.

It used to be a significant show in the Ken and Dave days and with her status she might be able to revive it.

Colin from Windsor does sometimes get things right. For example he took early retirement from work to give himself the opportunity to listen to Nick Ferrari every day. He seems to be a type of super fan.

There are over half a million in the UK with a HGV licence. It has now transpired of that number, only around 200k drive a lorry.

Therefore why have 300k people with a HGV licence decided not to drive for a living?

Probably because the pay, perks and hours are crap.
