Good post. My listening time to LBC has reduced since Steve left for sure. From about an average of 2 hours a day to about half an hour. It's just as you say, a wash-cycle of doom and gloom, rinse and repeat presenters having their own on air therapy sessions. Andrew Castle made me laugh on Sunday when he said something like "I know I'm supposed to be outraged and angry about something but I'm too tired". I think he spoke for most listeners there.
I listen to podcasts that cover my interests. I listen to Talksport between 1 and 4 most days if H & J are on. World Service News. If there's a big political event I might listen to a bit of Marr on LBC. I'm listening to JOB less and less these days but if I'm around I'll listen to the first 5 minutes and if there's no mention of his book or twitter I'll stick with it for a bit.
Did he really say that?
I feel you Andrew! That's one reason why I listen very infrequently now. It's an angry station for angry people.
As for alternative LBC listening, I've become more music based. I go between, Greatest Hits Radio, Boom and Boom lite, Serenade, Heart 70's or 80's. It very much depends on the time of day and my mood.
I miss Steve terribly. He was such a staple of my day.
