There's too much Marr on the election coverage😴. I wonder how that signing is working out for global. I don't think it's anywhere nearly as much of a coup as they think it was.

It’ll be interesting to see the listener figures in a few months. I don’t think the slot is right for him and I think the fact he doesn’t really take public calls just makes it quite a dry show. I think the best person they ever had in that slot was Farage for the hour. He took calls and it was a fairly lively hour.

I think LBC has taken quite a strong political focus over the past few years. I totally get it in the current climate but if I didn’t enjoy politics, not sure it’d be my station.

I agree. Especially Marr, LBC isn't right for him. Plus he has a really annoying habit of not being able to interrupt guests who have verbal diarrea (sp)? so you get 5 minute monologues of some agenda the person is pushing ... doubly so when they are calling from abroad with a delay on the line. Plus I really destest the cheating rat, but that's just a personal grudge.

The move to sign Mair was a good one, but all the latest BBC signings feel like a misfire. I really don't think they're going to be coining it in from listener ratings or podcast downloads. These people had a large audience because they were on the BBC, not because of who they are imo.

Keep reading, towards the end it refers to LBC !

People will pay for podcasts. Global, having invested in the BBC’s Andrew Marr, giving him his own nightly news show (but not yet succeeding in making him sound as if he is actually talking to his listeners) have just spent even more attracting Emily Maitlis and John Sopel from BBC TV. Whether the audience for their podcasts its big enough to justify their vast cost remains to be counted.

The 10 o'clock Oracle is giving the listener a potted history of his journey to becoming a political commentator

I turned on and it was ... "I wrote that in my book ... names book ...". Geezus the narcissism of this bloke. He definately comes across as the sneery entitled type who if you were to say you had written a book he'd perk up, then when you told him it was 'self published' he'd laugh and say 'oh that doesn't count'. He's that type of person. Trust me. I've known types like that.

Don't forget the patronising dig at his audience too. At one point he said something along the lines of ' and those that voted in a masochistic way, you're welcome too as you add to the figures for advertising'

Good to see you have ditched the Daily Sport in favour of a more even-handed publication.

It is rather annoying my newsagents had sold out of Daily Sport newspapers, so I thought I would get a magazine instead. Would you believe, they didn't have one copy of Playboy left on the shelves. They did have a pile of paperback books called 'How not to be wrong' by a James O'Brien. The newsagent told me he can't get rid of them and is considering giving them to customers who buy The Guardian for a week. 😝

Take care as the local recycling bins would soon fill up....

What’s the problem with Marr then? I keep hearing bad things. Really should give a listen but I always seem to be busy at that time.

Time slot is a problem for me for a start. It's too early. I think he'd be better on the weekend if he has to be on at all. Plus his style is too teacherly if that's a word ... he talks AT you, he talks more like a guest than a host. I don't know ... I just find it hard to warm to him personally, his style just seems so forced and unnatural. A bit like David Lammy, Rachel Johnson, Castle and Pierce, the worst 3 presenters on the station imo ...
