It was "different" from what I saw ...but the Olympics don't float my boat :)
Apart from boatloads of sopping wet athletes, it didn't have much to do with the Olympics. I felt that what it really needed was for the BBC to have brought in a commentator who could have given it the 'Wogan does Eurovision' treatment. I did wonder if a bit of trolling oneupmanship was going on when they slipped in brief snatches of London 2012 - the Queen and James Bond, the Spice Girls in London cabs, views of the Thames glittering in late evening sunshine. 😉

Pity Nick Ferrari isn't on this morning. I'd love to hear his take on last night's Olympic opening ceremony.

It was a shocker. I kept dipping in and out of it and every time I dipped in it seemed like the same thing every time. Just drag queens dancing.

The Olympics is watched by billions around the world from every creed and colour. I never understand why you would deliberately court controversy with something like The Last Supper thing at an event that is meant for everyone. Just unnecessary.

I'm not sure about this. This is taking it too far IMO. He really is very detached from anything to do with Hillsbprough.

Iain Dale has had an event canceled at the Liverpool Philharmonic because he published a book in 2016 by one of the senior police officers involved in the Hillsborough disaster.

I'm convinced there are people who have nothing to do other than trawl media outlets in search of something with which to be offended. Who, and how, could somebody come up with such a ridiculously tenuous connection?

I reckon people are paid to trawl through zillions of social media footage in order to unearth some "transgression" which happened when the person of interest was at primary school, for example. I wonder what the job description is?

Scousers always gonna scouse.

Didn't realise there was a tour of his podcast, fair play to Dale he's always looking to cash in

As a Scouser I can confirm this.

When Liverpool played in the FA cup in 2022 they booed the national anthem. I was discussing this with a guy who was there and he was saying it was all about Hillsborough. He then, without a touch of irony, told me he had got fake tickets for him and his son and they got into Wembley with some other lads by rushing one of the gates. It was such a laugh apparently.

That decision about Iain Dale is ridiculous.

They certainly know how to bear a grudge. Sun journalists are still banned from Anfield and Boris Johnson.is hated because he repeated their comments.

Anybody going to give Vorders a listen this week? I'll dip in and out in the hope that she can discuss non-political topics without forcing her own agenda on it. She's not unintelligent so perhaps we'll be pleasantly surprised.

She's dull, self-absorbed, and has an annoying voice so I don't hold out much hope.

I'm sure she'll be laying into the Tory leadeship scrap which sounds like Uncle Tom Cobley and all throwing their posh hats into the ring.

I'll give it a go. A shame she's on all week but no doubt Jobby insisted on it as he had to cave in re Braverman. What a terrible blow to his inflated ego that must have been. I hope his therapist is coping and that he is paying him/her shedloads.
