What did he say when he opened his show? Anything? Surely he referenced it after the big exit speech last week. Such a pompous moo, I do hope he’s going to eat some humble pie after this and get a grip on that ego of his.
Also, Iain, from now on think about what you’re saying in your podcast. Nobody wants or needs to know about your murky sexual history just like we don’t need to know about Jacqui Smiths tits or the coy references to her boyfriend. We don’t need “smut” or “sloppy seconds” in a political podcast. And stop going on about being an MP. It’s not gonna happen. You’re fucked.

Couldn't agree more with this! The annoying thing is For the many used to be a pretty good and informative podcast. The banter was actually nice as well. I think it was over covid it really ended up going downhill and then when Iain had his fall and then eye issues it really became the Iains life update podcast. The obsession with what they think is "smut" just comes across across as pathetic. I think there are a small group of fans who really egg this on and so egos have certainly grown. Same goes for Jacqui who I understand is having a new lease of life and feels more attractive than she used to, but I do not care about her sex life one bit. Or her Yoga come to that.
I'd also quite like them both to stop saying that they aren't very well off. It's honestly quite insulting.

Dale has played a few minutes from his podcast every week on his show for quite a few years. It's excruciatingly bad and not once has it tempted me to listen. On the other hand, he's had loads of interesting guests on All Talk

I've just wrote in another thread (Kate Garraway) regarding the oversharing of personal details, my position, like yours is: WHO CARES. It's so juvenile and pathetic. It smacks to me of some underlying self-control issue, or a need for attention that has been or is lacking somewhere. There might be some self-loathing issues or lack of self-worth. Maybe they enjoy demeaning themselves. It's hard to say without a psych-evaluation really. Broadcast media (and print media) really does attract these types of people though, I briefly worked in the field and was around these people (production side) ... I won't name names (you probably haven't heard of them anyway!), but I didn't enjoy being around them, they made me feel uncomfortable. It was as if they were deliberately saying things to get a reaction, to make you feel slightly uncomfortable, does that make sense? It's hard to describe and it's obviously not illegal, but it was just somehow inappropriate. Ugh, just unpleasant. Thinking back now, it kind of made me feel grubby somehow. Stained. It was as if they wanted to make me feel the same way as them ... Oh I don't know, it's hard to explain.

Iain Dale will often read out his own tweets on the podcast. He’s the person who sends a tweet and Is so proud of it that he wants to regale Jacqui Smith and everyone else with it on air lest anyone might have missed it. He also judges people by how many Twitter followers they have, dismissing the opinions of anyone who unlike him doesn’t consider followers to be a status symbol. He takes every opportunity to talk about himself and I detect more than a hint of the misogynist. He is a pompous hole.

Trouble is people care enough to subscribe to all the oversharing nonsense. They love it and it's now got very competitive so if you want to remain current and prominent you need to stand out from the rest of the attention-seeking desperadoes all vying for top spot.

Must be horrible working and trying to exist in that artificial environment. So fake and deeply unpleasant. I'm glad I'm old and don't need to keep up with that nonsense!

It can be done though. Nick Abbot has managed it for years. There is little information about his personal life out there. He doesn't even say what area of London he lives in. You pick up bits and pieces from his podcast. He must have a partner because he does say 'we' whenever he mentions going somewhere. Clive Bull is the same. They both come in, do their show and that's it.

The problem for Jimbo is that Farage has bested him again.

This creates an itch that no amount of name calling (Farridge) can scratch.

Has there ever been a broadcaster more self-obsessed? I lasted 5 minutes. How can someone talk about themselves so often for so long? It's incredible. It's unlistenable. I wonder if James has ever stalked anyone? He gives off that vibe.

It was ironic that Iain's first story on his comeback show was about a broadcaster quitting everything for politics!

James has mentioned his books about 6 times now.
"I am soul singing"
Farage is living in the boys head, remarkable

It's like Alan Partridge's personal battle with Dave Clifton
😬
The problem that James has is that Nigel Farage is far too nimble and quick witted for him.

By the time James has wound up his knock-out punch Farage has not only moved away he is in the next ring fighting someone else. So James gets a fist full of thin air.

So he is both bested and frustrated until the next time when exactly the same thing happens.

James O’Brien has just taken a very long call from James in Durham who is clearly very racist and a big supporter of Farage. He totally dismantled James’s arguments but he still went away think that Nigel Farage and Tommy Robinson are spot on.
Whatever you think of O’Brien he is very good at exposed right wing bigots.
Apparently there are street in Oldham where “foreigners” outnumber the police. There are streets everywhere in the country where the residents outnumber the police. I am all for democracy, but perhaps there needs to be an IQ test to weed out some of the poor gullible souls.

That boy was horrendous, cringing listening to him waffling on.

I heard a long section of that call. The caller seems to have left without having his uninformed opinion changed by the superior intellect of Jobby. That is where Jimbo reveals his self-centred ego as he is so focused on showing off and point scoring that he ignores the fact he could try to change this caller’s attitude with respectful persuasion.

I tuned back in just after 11 to hear a caller mock Farage for living near his mum and then call him attention-seeking and needy. O'Brien is very needy and attention-seeking and he doesn't even know who his mum is. I turned-off again soon after. Too weird.

Funny ... Farage and James share quite a few similiar traits regarding their respective relationship to their mother, formative years, and education. I think there's some weird symbiotic relationship going on ... at least from James' end, I doubt Farage gives a duck.

How refreshing.

He was given an awful lot of rope and he certainly hanged himself. What puzzles me is there must have been many people listening who support his views but they still won’t see how deluded they are. Well, maybe not deluded, just bigoted.
