I fear for his mental state as he realises that rather than being a seer he is just a nasty misogynisttic troll.

That's for his therapist to deal with. He treats his 'show' like a therapy session. Again, I just don't see how the bean-counters or whoever is in charge at LBC don't see this. Judging by an earlier post, he just rambles on for an hour talking to himself taking no calls. I mean, I do it myself sometimes ... muttering to myself as I walk along the beach, but I'm not on national radio and nobody hears. It's a weird co-dependancy James and whoever calls the shots at LBC has. His time has come, he needs to go. And I don't say that because I think he's a hateful prick, I just think enough is enough ... find some new blood.

They might replace him with hobby 2.0 Oli Dugmore 😱

They're all VERY angry over on the dark side this morning, spouting even more bile and venom towards the government than usual. This, on the same morning that the Government wants to crack down on spongers, layabouts and the bone idle who are perfectly capable of working but who choose to sit on their arses and scrounge off the government is of course a pure coincidence

Quite tragic. I don't know who at LBC keeps him on. I swear to God (or whoever) someone else would get better listening figures. I for one would listen, or at least tune in more. Being 'edgy' at 30 has some merit I suppose, but at 50 it smacks of desperation. TalkTV and GBNews levels of desperation. He's the white pale male Leftie version of Julia Hartley-Brewer. If only he could have the self-awareness to realise it. He must have enough money now to pack it in and potter-around in his garden pumping-out self-help books or something. Give someone else a chance mate. Know what I mean?

He MUST know he never quite 'made' it and now he never will. There's no shame in that. It's no big deal. But I think when you've had the education he has and you have a peer group consisting of people like Martin Lewis there is weird career drive, something mere plebs like you or I can never quite fathom. A fear or 'failure'? FOMO? (Fear of Missing Out)? There's something, I've seen it before. I don't get it, nor have it. Part of me wishes I did. But then I see how fucked-up these people are and I'm glad I don't. I'm rambling ...

BIB ... what a perfect comparison!! Bravo. He is exactly like all those he derides and shows contempt for. Just from the opposite political side. He will never have that kind of self awareness.

Let's face it - they would condemn any proposal by a Tory government even if they agree with it - from banning the wearing of top hats at Ascot to replacing August Bank Holiday with Karl Marx Day. God knows what they'll have to moan about under a Labour government.

This is how I view the current bunch of presenters ...

Ferrari = right of centre
O'Brien = left of centre
Fogerty = centrist
Swarbrick = centrist
Marr = don't know
Dale = right of centre
Kentish = centrist
Spurr = right of centre
Payne = world of his own.

Abbot = left of centre
Wright = left of centre
Myska = left of centre
Devon = left of centre
Dugmoor = left of centre
Bull = centrist
Lammy = shouldn't be there
Johnson = centrist
Miraj = right of centre.
Vorderman = left of centre

In all, especially at the weeknd, the left dominate IMO.
At least there is some variety there which is more than you can say for a number of media outlets. I don’t have a problem with newspapers, magazines, radio channels and TV stations having a right wing bias but there needs to be some kind of balance which in this country there clearly isn’t.

Those keen on the Scottish National Party have had a rough 24 hours too....

Because everyone on benefits must be a bone idle sponger. Do you know how much people on benefits actually get, if they manage to navigate their way through the Universal Credit process? Perhaps if the waiting lists weren’t so long and the NHS not in its knees after 14 years of underfunding, fewer people would need benefits. Let’s hope you never need a safety net but you sound very much like the very rich Tories who will never know what it is like to struggle financially.

Buying a newspaper is a more decisive action than listening to the radio. You can have the radio waffling away in the background without it costing you anything. You're going to be a bit more choosy if you have to pay to read/hear somebody else's opinions, usually those with which you agree. And a hell of a lot more people shell out their pennies for the Daily Mail than The Guardian.

James O’Brien has just quoted a brilliant tweet by Ben Kentish.
“You could sort out the state of the NHS mental health services - or you could tell the people needing them that they’re the problem.”

That doesn’t mean that we should have fewer centrist or left wing publications. The Guardian is owned by a trust. Most newspapers are owned by billionaires who use them to push their own agendas.
I’m guessing here but I doubt if there are many super rich people with socialist principles who want to get into publishing newspapers.
Look at the voting figures. There are more votes cast for non right wing parties - the figures do not tally with newspaper readership figures. Even when the country voted for Blair we only had the left wing Mirror and liberal centrist Guardian and Independent. The Sun backed Blair for a while, probably because Murdoch didn’t want to back a loser, but no one could ever accuse The Sun of being anything other than anti socialist.

The other issue for James is his schooling as whilst many think from time to time about their school, in his mind James has never really left Ampleforth.

Back then he was told he would be somebody.

Now he finds that BBC Newsnight responded to his tantum by letting him go and ITV never renewed O'Brien where he was routed by the chavs of daytime ITV.

No wonder he needs therapy.

What about Kate Garroway?

There's half a million more people on the long term sick since before covid, with huge increases in numbers with those claiming to suffer from back and neck injuries. Two thirds of incapacity benefits are dished out to people who are unable to work because of mental health problems.

Those claiming these benefits have an average of 2.7 health conditions each, prompting experts to warn that the benefits bill could become ever more expensive as long term medical conditions become more complex.

and me rich ? I wish. I just can't stand entitled wasters claiming money.

The Guardian is owned by a trust.

The Guardian covered-up 6 seperate sexual-harassment claims and paid 6 women to leave and sign NDA's a few years ago. Trust or not, The Guardian is a bleep of an organisation to work for and a lot of people there (not the 'little' people) ... I'm speaking specifically about some 'columnists'. They are some of the most deeply flawed and unpleasant people. I know this for a fact and I won't say more because ... well, read between the bloody lines.

Sorry for that rant ... the words 'The Guardian' triggered me. :cautious: :whistle:

I couldn't imagine her fitting in at LBC. I always liked Daisy McAndrew when she previously worked at LBC. That was quite a while ago now. LBC like poaching from the BBC so maybe Victoria Derbyshire? I also like Penny Smith.
This was a tongue in cheek suggestion because I know how much some of us love her ;)

I think people should not be "encouraged" to have a mental health problem when they are dealing with the difficulties in life which everyone experiences. NHS mental health services should be available for those with complex lifelong illnesses/conditions but there is little to no expertise so those who really need help are left to cope as best they can.

Private Eye has extensively covered what Owen Jones has got away with.

Yeah, Owen is just the tip of the iceberg. I wasn't referring to that skidmark ... even if you were even referring to what I typed. Anyhoo ... let's move on. There are some vile people around in the meeja, both broadcasting and paper. Ugh.
