The word “gammon” does its job perfectly. I find it mildly amusing that those who take offence at the word “gammon” are quite happy to label others as “woke” or “snowflakes”.
Let’s face it, there is a group of people in this country to whom the totally unhinged section of the Tory Pary (the likes of Braverman, Patel, Rees-Mogg, Truss, Anderson etc. etc.) just have to blow their dog whistles and they all fall in line. The editorial teams at the Mail, Express, Telegraph, Sun, Spectator and Times know their demographic very well. Perhaps we should just get rid of all of these titles, accept our fate and have one national newspaper, The Daily Gammon?

I might have agreed with you once upon a time. Trouble is, when you see what the people who voted for Brexit and the likes of Johnson and hear the reasons why, I don’t think it is unreasonable to have their (usually) very weak arguments picked apart.
I might have agreed with you if this country had not been run into the ground for the last 14 years.
I might have agreed with you if the majority of the media in this country wasn’t propping up those responsible and running down those (few) who speak out against it.
I don’t disagree with the fact that he has a privileged education, that he is well versed in debate and uses his position to his advantage when dealing with less experienced callers, but isn’t that his job? It’s exactly the same as those hosting current affairs programmes. They are supposed to challenge those who they are interviewing, not to give them an easy ride.
I have only been listening to LBC since last year and hear the likes of Ferrari and Dale doing the same as O’Brien and Fogharty but not getting the same amount of grief. What I like is to hear people standing up to the bullshit we are fed daily but understand that those who like to hear the bullshit will disagree strongly.
I heard his comments about the Israeli soldiers. I have also heard him call out the actions of Hamas. As he has said numerous times, it is entirely possible to be critical of both sides. It seems as those who are polarised just hear what they want to hear.
I have heard him challenge Khan. I have heard him challenge Starmer and Labour policies. I don’t doubt that, should Labour win the next election and start behaving in the same way this government is and has done, he will give them the same kicking. I guess we will find out.
I am not going to apologise for enjoying listening to people who call out the lies told to us by those who sold us Brexit and who highlight the incompetence of the various governments we have had to endure over the last 14 years.

This morning O’Brien points out that the front page of The Times talks about the bloodiest day of the war so far as 21 IDF soldiers died. This seems to ignore quite blatantly that 25,000 mostly completely innocent Palestinians have already been murdered. Is he wrong to do so?
