Couldn't agree more and I've got 2 adult autistic children! They both hate the "you can't touch me because I'm neurodiverse" mindset. This concept of neurodiversity has opened up a can of worms in my opinion. My 2 take responsibilty for their own actions and would never use the excuse of being autistic for acting out of order.

I did recall reading he was austisc but wasn't sure if that was correct

I would if I had a platform and it was possible it could help destigmatise a still heavily misunderstood condition

Wonderful post. Thing is, all of these conditions have been de-stigmatised. Misunderstood? Yeah, you're probably right on that. Most people 'in real life' at least in my experience bend-over backwards to accommodate. But as with all things, some people take advantage and use said conditions to push their own agenda. Especially people in the media who crave attention and money. That's why I take such a cynical stance on so-called personalities declaring they are 'on the spectrum'. It's on me, I know that.

Absolutely not in my day to day experience. In the media and depending on where you live, sure, but I live somewhere that has always been pretty "backwards" one way or another and still has a lot of people that cling to thought processes like being too ill to work is lazy, that being neurodiverse is attention seeking, lots of racism towards a growing diversity in the town, etc. I don't talk to anyone anymore about personal matters because it feels frankly unsafe at worst or you get deeply patronising attitudes thrown back at you at best.

I'm glad things are improving for some in some places but I think there's still a long way to go in regular life, personally. Though it's certainly better than it was during my primary school years. The way teachers were able to treat children who struggled or didn't mesh with the system even then was abhorrent.

Absolutely you can be a prick never mind your neurodiversity, colour sexuality, sex.

It seems some people get a free pass because of this.

In respect of Derek's death and his brief visit to Mexico, fast-food outlet Taco Bell has a day honour and changes it's name ...

Yeah it's tinnitus it's nothing life threatening, I had it for a month a bit a go when I tried taking tumeric annoying as hell but you get used to it .

There's hundreds of thousands who have it from industrial work prior to the 90s, my dad has it and may who worked in coal and steel have it
No, it won't kill you but plenty have taken their lives because of it. You're lucky to have had it for only a month. Don't be so dismissive, it can be hell.

Absolutely, same here. I have two children who are autistic and I am the only common denominator between the two, so likely I am too. Neurodiversity does mean adaptions to match experiences with neurotypical. It’s certainly not a free pass to be a dick.
