Kate Garraway #3 No respect for privacy of others, trip to Mexico kept undercovers!

This thread is life hahahaha

I was comically relieved when it kicked off and there were finally people unafraid to say what I felt since quite early on in the saga. I was very sympathetic to Kate at the beginning but when she wouldn't stop oversharing the most inappropriate things, like her kids asking her if she was going to kill herself and how many times a day Derek's sheets had to be changed I couldn't believe what I was reading. Mainstream population comments were still very supportive of her back then, it's only really been in recent months since anyone started to question things and then I think that ghastly funeral was a real turning point and opinion seems largely negative now aside from hard-of-thinking types who call anyone who speaks against someone's narrative a cruel troll. It's been an interesting in someone ruining the good will afforded to them.

He didn’t get to meet Paddington unfortunately but he did get his moment in the sun or drawn on an iPad [/ATTACH]

I find this stuff so creepy. Parasocial relationships between public and celebs are nuts.

Why hasn't she said exactly what was the experimental treatment she took him to Mexico for

Looks like there are a few alleged treatments for Covid, stem cell therapy and blood washing.

Stem cell is more a Mexico thing, blood washing more a Cyprus thing.

Stem cell doesn't seem cheap but I be a medivac to UK wasn't.

Has anything been in the media about Derek's parents and how they are feeling and if they approve of madam' hogging the limelight by sharing private info about their son.

I would be mortified if it was my son, and would make my my feelings known!

I assumed from the radio silence on their part, they are private people. If that's the case, how they have snapped and had a go at Kate by now is a miracle.

It's actually hard to pin down much from the draper side.

His mum and dad would be 84-85 looking at a report when they had there flu jabs in 2008 probably related to Derek being in government employ so to speak.

There is also reports of them not being able to visit Derek due to restrictions but apart from that not much.

Someone might be able to dig deeper but my five minutes were enough.

So I would say they are keeping quiet.

They are of the generation who understand the power of maintaining a dignified silence, it looks like.

Oh my Lord is it only tinnitus?! Yeah that’s a super annoying thing, but the headline made out like it was a terminal thing. 😅

Susannah Reid has given countless interviews in recent years about a patch of dry skin / a rash on her face.
She takes self obsession to a new level.

I can't wrap my head around the amount of coverage Derek's illness and now death is getting. It's quite possibly the most bizarre thing I've ever seen in my life.

Anyone got any theories on why the media are behaving this way over this one person/family above all others? Even now the tide has turned and more people are not afraid to say negative things about it they are doubling down and still dragging it on. I'm finding it bewildering in a Twilight Zone sort of way.

I can't abide Martin Lewis. He is so shouty and flailing I find it unbearable to watch or listen to him. I probably miss out on useful advice but I've survived so far.

i cannot stand him - the shouting and stare eyes. He comes across as quite unhinged.

It's oddly satisfying to know someone else feels this. He's one of those people you "aren't allowed" to criticse on places like X. I appreciate that he does help people but I think he also scaremongers a lot. I couldn't roll my eyes hard enough when he stated debit cards could become "danger cards" if people weren't careful with spending. Like, duh.

Martin has the rare mix of being incredibly needy whilst also being extremely passive-agressive. He also seems emotionally unstable. I've heard him a few times start swearing and raging uncontrollably or burst into tears. I'm not sure if he's acting or acting-out, it's hard to say, probably a mixture of both. He also suffers from a God-complex which I suspect started at private school. In his mind he wants to save us all but I'm not convinced he can even save himself.

I think it must have dawned on Martin pretty early-on that he wasn't blessed with 'film star' looks so he had to figure out another way to perform on screen thus he became a post-modern Robin Hood figure, helping the poor get money from evil corportations. I suspect if you asked Mr. Lewis to wear coloured tights and run around in the forest waving his bow and arrow around he might take you up on the offer. Of course, the fact he himself works for an evil corporation (ITV) gets glossed-over. He's probably very touchy about criticism also, so I fully expect a very shrill letter in the post from his lawyers.

Martin Lewis is autistic it was revealed recently. Probably why he comes across as a bit manic. He lost his mother as a young boy which must have been traumatic and that can last a lifetime
I started folllowing Mse in 2006 and without him I would have not climbed out of a mountain of debt. He also taught me many shopping tricks to manage my budget.

I wish people would refrain from saying that it's only tinnitus. Tinnitus is a life changing injury. It can be caused by medicine prescribed by a doctor. I have it 3 years and nearly ended my life when I first got it. It is 24/7 torture. You don't get used to it, you live with it because you either live with it or kill yourself. Every morning when I wake up, the first thing I hear is hissing.people with tinnitus have a higher suicide rate. I think it's great that Susannah talks about it, as there is limited research into it.

Well, as with all these celebrity diagnosis' I'd like to see official medical records before I believe it. Maybe I'm austistic too and if I was I certainly wouldn't share it with anyone. Neither would I tell people to invest their money into Icelandic banks. I'm glad he helped you and I'm glad he helps lots of people. Thankfully as we all these people on TV there's an off switch! 😁

Amen, luckily my tinnitus is not as 'loud' as it could be, but when I first got it after a horrendous headcold/ear infection I felt very very frustrated and it took a long time to tune it out in the day, though I still wake up at night sometimes and can't ignore it.

What I find sickening about ITV is how much they try to make their presenters as angels and saints when they are just people who want the limelight and all the perks that go with it. They are definitely encouraging this Saint Kate narrative/attention etc.

I'm glad to see someone else has issues with Martin Lewis. I know he means well, but something about him has always rubbed me up the wrong way. He's too bloody shouty too.

I know someone who's contacted him numerous times about the Pension Credit he keeps banging on about. To highlight how anyone who lives with someone as their carer is not entitled to claim PC or the 'severe disability premium' of UC/ESA.

So if you're 'severely disabled' enough to need someone living with you to provide care, you can basically duck off for about £89 a week! I think that's outrageous, but him and his team don't seem interested in exposing that injustice.

His MSE Forum is awful too! I've never seen a bigger bunch of judgemental, accusatory twats in one place in my life. Doesn't matter what you post there about, everyone replies with a 'tude like you're on the make. Ironic really, when you consider ML/MSE's mission.

This is why I was dreading Kate being named as the new TM host, because her and ML on the same show at least once a week would have me punting the tellybox through the nearest window in minutes.

I did recall reading he was austisc but wasn't sure if that was correct.

It explains a lot but at the same time, each austisic person is different like each perosn without autism is different so the whole thing on X where we mustn't criticse people like Martin Lewis or Chris Packham because they are autistic is patronising. With ML, it would not surprise me if ITV actively encourages his bombastic style since they seem to think loud, flaily people like ML and Alison Hammond are what the viewers want. And maybe they are popular enough to justify that belief but I see a lot of complaints too.

I would if I had a platform and it was possible it could help destigmatise a still heavily misunderstood condition, but I'm a nobody so I keep my personal issues to myself. It kind of blows my mind when you see loads of people on X list all their ailments and diagnosis' in their bios. Apart from courting victim status, what does it achieve for them? Oh, wait...

I do really dislike the persistence pushing of the idea you must not every critcise anyone who has autism or ADHD though. I also think a person can have these conditions and also be annoying, that it's not always a mutally exclusive thing.
