It’s simply to sell tickets. They’ve seen how many deranged fans he’s got that will buy ANYTHING with him in it. I’ll tell you what. I wasn’t planning on seeing it as heard it’s tit, but I certainly wouldn’t now Joe is in it, purely because those fans will RUIN it for every normal west end fan

I get that they want to sell tickets, but I don’t think they realise how bad this could be for the other cast members. I’ve seen some people on twitter say they are only going to see joe and will be on their phone while he’s not on stage, it’s so disrespectful. Even if you don’t have a clue what’s going on, you don’t sit on your phone as it’s distracting for those on stage.
Saw someone else say they are going to cheer and scream every time he is on stage, do they realise it’s not a concert?

They’ll get kicked out if they are doing tit like that. You have to have some decorum in the west end shows and the staff won’t be letting that happen. Absolutely disgusting behaviour if your happy to ruin a show for someone else. Think these stans will be in for a shock.

Joe won’t be very popular with the cast either if his fans are ruining every show. Hopefully the dick head will have some sense and tweet that people should be respectful. Doubt it though as he loves a massaged ego

They need a name, with fans who will buy tickets, it's a smallish part with a couple of solo's if I remember correctly. He not on stage that much, but it is experience for the Joe and Dianne show, unless he is truly terrible it's win/win for both Joe (experience) and Waitress (bums on seats). If he's bad, it doesn't bode well for next year's show, although the producers will know where he needs extra training.
 
Why can’t Dianne act/speak normally? Does she need to post a long gushing message every time joe does something? I get that it’s a big thing but I’m just fed up seeing her big long paragraphs with poor grammar 😂 also, there’s a video of her on Gorka’s Instagram story and you can’t fully see it but her outfit looks like utter tit

The comments under waitress twitter announcement have a lot of people who aren’t happy and calling them out for it

The comments on the Instagram are full of people complaining, and of course you have the same few joe fan accounts barging in on every comment trying to argue that this has always been joes dream...
 
I've never commented on this thread, don't know a whole lot about this guy bar his stint on strictly. This waitress casting has made me angry though.

I'm a massive musical theatre fan, seen many west end shows. I know there is 'stunt casting' to get bums on seats but normally they're people who can actually sing/act Ashley Roberts for example.
This one seems a joke though. He's only famous for YouTube. He's gonna bring in all his teenage fans who will probably spoil the show for the audience who want to see the actual show and not some wannabe youtuber.

I work in the Theatre with various producers, I have nothing to do with this production but have heard it is in trouble. Its a matter of stunt casting or closure, putting many people out of work, if Joe doesn't manage to increase the revenue it will close early.

I do find this kind of casting distasteful but needs must, I don't think he would have been cast if Ashley hadn't first and he does seem to have rabid fans which may make him a bigger draw than she was. Unfortunately names in musical theatre that would draw a few weeks of good sales really wouldn't join this production.
 
I’m new to this thread but I agree with everything you said. Fortunately for me I’m not a fan of Waitress but Todrick Hall is playing Joes role in the Broadway version and is 100% more talented and equipped for this role than Joe. I’d hate to think this would lead to more West End roles for Joe as he can’t sing that well, even with auto tuned. I’d hate if he got to play a huge role like Mark from Rent when non ‘famous’ egotistical people have worked hard for years and Joe is given everything handed to him on a plate without experience.

There must have been someone else though to use for a better stunt casting.

Joe seems to be good at marketing himself and creating little stunts but idk about beyond that. He doesn’t really have anything on his plate besides margarine, a joint venture with Caspar where Caspar does most of the talking.

I just thought of a very unlikely conspiracy theory. The BBC set Joe up with the people in the west end, so he wasn't taking over Strictly?
