My friend went to high school with him and also attended the same drama college. He has apparently always been arrogant, bullying, nasty and full of himself. She can’t stand him; she and her friends have nothing nice to say about him.
His sister is/ was a social worker, and his mum also worked for Child services (in the same county as the sister) doing admin type work. His mum is apparently lovely and his seems pretty lovely from her Instagram too.
I was gutted to hear this as I thought he would be a real life Smithy

I always wonder about that, too. Like how on earth did he even get the gig??? What is the connection?? Many can't make it in the US (or anywhere, but everyone seems to still salivate over H'weird and seeing that as some sort of "pinnacle" career-wise), but James Corden managed to get this massive hosting gig???

A woman that was employed to manage the set on I think it was Gavin and Stacy said he was an absolute nightmare. On his phone all the time, forgetting lines, being lazy and pig ignorant etc. He's supposed to be an absolute bleep.
Its a wonder he can find any work at all, theres better people than him.

I've met his dad, and he is lovely. His sister was a year above me, but I really don't remember much about her.

Met James a few times as he has invited me to be host guest at aloto and late late show in London tapings. He used to message me on twitter out of the blue or message me when I contacted him. I want him to come home he is better here on aloto than on the late late show. His twitter is run by the show aswell

I once worked at a few places that would never, ever, ever, ever fire someone. No matter how obnoxious or lazy. No one had the time or could be bothered with the HR / Tribunal fight.
They would simply give them a rave reference, saying they were the dog’s bollocks and the like (all the rest of us colleagues would chip in to agree) and they’d disappear so fast to another firm, they’d leave contrails behind them.
I‘d like to think that’s what his old employers did to the Yanks - if that’s the case, sorry old beans. It’s a surprisingly common tactic to shake off wankers over here...

I dont think he is untalented. Just because someone is a complete arrogant arse in real life doesn't mean they are untalented. He is a very good stage actor and a good writer. I've never seen his show in the US and the few clips I have seen he irritates me intensely, but he must have something the Americans want, as he keeps getting parts in films and voiceovers on top of his presenting gig. They must be employing him despite his personality, because who would put up with that behaviour if he was not some kind of draw? I do get the feeling re: Ruth Jones etc that he is a good friend to people who he feels are on the same level as him, and he can turn it on for the fans but if someone is seen as beneath him or he doesnt have to put on a show he cant be bothered.

I think he’s talented and has some good ideas but his attitude and arrogance goes before him now in my book. He’s managed to last this long in La La Land because he’s the biggest sycophant. To watch him present the Tony Awards and call on Oprah in the audience and all the bigwigs with clout was predictable.
