Why is this woman obsessed with blended fish?
I think she thinks anchovies are somehow sophisticated and that the addition of them makes her look like she knows something about flavour.
I love anchovies (and when they're used properly there's absolutely no need to put them anywhere near a blender) but the fact she thinks they're interchangeable with sardines tells you all you need to know about all that she doesn't know. Sardines in a pasta sauce is fishy pasta, probably with some lovely bones and bits of spine in there for good measure , vs. anchovies which totally disappear and just add a salty, umami depth (although probably not in the minute quantities she uses them).
