I remember once at work the very lovely Albert Finney popped in 🍉 so I was, of course, charmingly chatting away with him, all smiles. When he left the young philistines I worked with were curious who he was so I explained, "that's Albert Finney. You know, the actor. Tom Jones. No, not the singer, the film!"

Reader, they had no idea who he was or had even seen any of his films when I reeled them off. I was in DESPAIR!

Interesting that guest hasn't mentioned Tom Waits as one of her musical faves, although she listened to one of his songs enough times to murder it by singing it perform it for her Glasto-sized audience on the YouTubes.

ETA: Also, everyone I know whose family went to a small-c conservative Christian church was strictly forbidden from listening to mainstream pop music. It had to be "Christian" music - not just hymns and the like, but also Christian bands that did Godly pop-style music. Guest hasn't explained how all that Satanic music was played in Big Chocco's devout household.

I had to explain who Tom Jones is the other day. Might try to teach them all Saturday Night Dance tomorrow.

I still remember the day I played my much younger foreign-born colleague We All Stand Together by Paul McCartney and the Frog Chorus 🍉 She was just staring at me open mouthed going "This is by the guy who was in the Beatles? The Beatles?????" I think it broke her brain.

To be fair, that song breaks a lot of people's brains when they compare it to Sir Paul's other non-shite creations. Like tenderstem @YerDa said.

Little Aeroplane loves the Frog Song sooo much and is bloody adorable singing along “BOM BOM BOM ba-la-la”. (It’s slightly annoying to have to listen to it pretty much every morning, but while I will not countenance Cocomelon, I can tolerate more or less anything else.)

anyway back on topic, Jack Monroe built a career out of lying about ever being poor, and has grifted thousands and thousands of quids off well meaning people, pass it on.

I heard Dear Jessie by Madonna the other day and thought I’d dropped acid and was listening to the Beatles

The film Saturday Night Fever had the working title Saturday Night, but the Bee Gees already had the song Night Fever in the can. The film’s title was changed.
I’m convinced she mangled that story with the Whigfield song. Somehow.
Nah the song goes
Saturday Night/dance!/I like the way you move
its call Saturday Night and it has a dance that goes with it. Geets called it, thick as bottled shite.

That possible of old honker at the hustings, she is standing next to a young man that may be SB. If it's him he has shot up height wise. But why would she take him?
