The PIP thing is difficult. We get higher rate DLA for our severely autistic child. Do we technically need it? No. We are comfortable, with a decent household income. However it enables him to access some extra curriculars that are 3 times the price simply because the words ‘SEN’ are involved, and also helps us to pay for private therapies because the NHS provision is so poor. I’m sure there are many who think we shouldn’t claim it because we live comfortably, but in my view that money is to make his very difficult life a little bit more pleasant for him.
But you DO need it, because you have a severely autistic child and they are obviously benefitting from the additional income.

I don't really have anything to say about benefits, other than I have a few family members who would love to be able to find a job that pays enough so they can live from day to day without having to worry constantly. (Living in a severely deprived area doesn't help)

Jack, if you are reading this, and I know you are...

I hope you are paying attention to the posts here today. It's called real life.

Yeah that’s exactly what it’s for. To enable things for people who are unfairly charged a premium or to enable people to access things the NHS don’t provide. An example up thread was bladder issues, the NHS provision of incontinence products is diabolical and if claiming PIP funds someone buying more pads so they feel comfortable being out and about then I’m 100% for it, whether or not they could have afforded the pads without it. Nobody should have to regularly pay more for things outwith their control, that’s why PIP isn’t means tested. And the MH benefits alone from allowing people to access aids and therapies and social activities will save the NHS more than the PIP bill costs. Anyone questioning you taking it is an idiot IMO.

It’s also worth bearing in mind you don’t always know someone’s full story. A lot of people play down conditions they have so you might see the good side where they seem to be claiming fraudulently but they can only show that on certain days or because of aids etc you aren’t aware of. The bar is so high for PIP I really cannot believe many people are getting it who shouldn’t be, I suspect the balance is far far more weighted towards people who should be getting it who aren’t.

Just noticed this in the @VeniVidiVicki haul

Mither DV, unaliving
That’s a grim choice of expression and a very odd one for someone who has claimed multiple times she experienced violent assaults from more than one intimate partner (including a separate highly detailed claim on her blog just 5 months before the Gloss post above)
View attachment 2530867 qView attachment 2530868 qView attachment 2530869 q

Mind you, this below is also an odd choice of expression from someone who later claims at this time she was a “wraith” who could go for weeks without speaking to another human being and who has also (years later) luridly claimed multiple times she attempted suicide in a bath at the end of July 2012. So less than 2 1/2 months after writing this.

bleeping GHOUL. Oh and LIAR.

I know this is not the point, but isn't that an Urban Decay Naked Eye Shadow Palette that costs like £35 quid? I mean, spend your money on what you want, but don't cry poverty at the same time (and don't grift other people's money for your fancy make up)

Pull the thing up so it goes round your boobs for Christ’s sake!

How could you spend this long posing for photos and not noticed the sad spaniel ears under your tits? What the hellwas she focusing on??

And yes, I do know I’ve mithered on this before.

That top wasn't bought for her tits. They were bought for someone else's tits. Not all tits are interchangeable.

I would just say, @Foxvint some of them will get caught. Making it common knowledge that they're claiming fraudulently and declaring that anyone who doesn't is a fool is all great larks until someone with a grudge shops them.
Then it's interview under caution, here are pics of you up a ladder, here's you and your "estranged" partner on FB celebrating your anniversary in Corfu, now we want our £100k over the last 14 years back please?
Their complacency gets them convicted. I'd hate to live with that hanging over me.

Complacency is exactly it in a nutshell! That is what guest and many other grifters are. They have become so complacent in their lies and the hypocrisy of claiming poverty whilst living well above the breadline. They don't bother to hide their wealth and they insult their audience by peddling outrageous lies. Mind you some audiences clearly like to be scammed and lack critical thinking.

Absolutely @WhyYouCry? Those allowances exist because no-one (regardless of income) should have to bear all of the additional costs incurred by their disability. I'm glad, even proud, that I live in a country where we have schemes that provide that help without means-testing. If someone feels they're sufficiently well off to not claim it then fair play to them, but I'd 100% support them taking it.
(There's a deeper issue with govt treatment of disability which is covered really well in Frances Ryan's Crippled - Austerity and the Demonization of Disabled People).

Absolutely this, both of you. I struggle with words and am not sure how to say this effectively, but instead of seeing disability benefits as cap-in-hand need, a non means-tested benefit such as PIP is in essence an acknowledgement that the act of living in our society, within our communities, costs more if you are disabled, because that society has been designed standard issue, and what are considered pleasant add-ons for some (eg, pre packaged veg, valet parking at airports) are necessities for others. It’s a practical move towards equity. The fact that this practical acknowledgment of the requirement of extras as standard for some takes a financial form of course can be emotive, especially during tough times. That these emotions can be stoked by some with agendas, and that it can be exploited fraudulently boil my piss.

(Transparency: Thing2 is a disabled, PIP-receiving, income-earning tax payer.)

Maybe she plays the spoons with them? They might be dextrous as well as unruly.
Yes, I was thinking something along the lines of Sticky Vicky. There's a story (there's always a story) off topic so behind a spoiler. I have told this story so often that I will be outing myself to anyone who knows me ...

Many, many years ago, I went with my late partner to Benidorm. Not out choice, but we went along with a group of friends. We saw a bar advertising "Benidorm's famous Sticky Vicky appearing tonight" Not having a clue who she was we decided to go and watch and have some food so sat at a table.

When Vicky came on we already had our food, so although my partner was horrified at her act (and I wasn't best pleased, it was putting me off my food) we decided to stay. After pulling assorted items from her nether regions, and opening a bottle with what I assume was a concealed bottle opener, Vicky came up to our table. She picked up a sausage off my partners plate and made it "disappear"! Only to make it reappear a few moments later.

They offered us a replacement dinner after my partner complained. We decided not to accept and left to eat elsewhere.

2016 was her continued attention-seeking and column inches for being MUSCLY trans non binary that started in October 2015 in the wake of Leggy having dumped her that June, after her trying to make Leggy jealous with her yacht girl 🇺🇸 jollies with Big Lin in Aug-Sept 2015 and after pretending to have multiple heart attacks didn’t work to lure Leggy back.

Incredibly, she was still lying and attention seeking/making money and getting column inches about her fake tit-chopping/testosterone offensiveness in September 2016 (and joined Mrs Gloss attention-seeking that same month). She had no books or anything else going on then and hadn’t for some time.

Trans nonbinary attention-seeking didn’t pay the bills tho, so her biggest source of income post-Leggy was when she decided to crowdfund her next book on Kickstarter in December 2015 barely 6 months after Leggy and her were done.

Seems unfathomable to me that someone who raised £68,671 in 6 weeks for a book they didn’t really deliver more than two years later (and after that enabler Carole gave them a separate £££ contract to publish) would rack up another CCJ while sitting on this lovely, lovely pile of cash. But I’m not FORENSIC so what do I know…

View attachment 2532333 qShe was without a Sugarmama from June 2015-March 2017 when LJC stepped in.

In her dreadful fallow year of 2016 where she racked up a CCJ (and that started with £68,671 in her bank account for doing precisely duck all) all she moved into the house with the black kitchen of doom and the clutter everywhere.

Basically that Kickstarter £69,671 cash kept her going (and spending) that entire year.
Oh, and a little bit of sideboard change for claiming in her beloved THE NEWSPAPER to be non-binary trans, MAGICALLY cured of her meat addiction and being I JACK MONROE Daniel Blake (x2) and wall-puncher of course £££
View attachment 2532335 qView attachment 2532336 q

Never really tied this into her timeline before but she was a LONG bleeping way from her first two books to her third. She knocked two out in 2014 and then the next one published was 2018 (the one she separately grifted £68,671 to “self-publish” over two years before). By then enabler Carole had got involved and started churning them out multiple times a year.

How DARE she claim that SHE is Daniel Blake?? I've only been able to watch clips of the film because it's so gutting. I work with people who are in that situation - NOTHING like Jack. It enrages me that she claims to speak for poor people, she's stolen that voice from people who are truly in that position.

Chicken, red pepper, curry powder and Campbells mushroom soup, served with rice was one of my fav student meals!

I'd still like that now! I'm a big fan of cooking with Campbell's condensed soup :)

When I was little I always thought the cat's food looked and smelled lovely - now I like to tinned chicken in white sauce, or tinned stewing steak, which recreates the catfoody vibe!

It is very difficult to have a productive conversation on social support on a platform like this but I really appreciate the thoughtfulness of so many of you and your willingness to hear from others. It is remarkable, really.

From my own, personal, experience, the whole benefits system is overly complicated and has so many in-built traps that makes it incredibly difficult to navigate. It took me ten years to get PIP, for example, and I've been honestly broken by the nightmare of having to fight for it. There is so much to say about it ...

At a systemic level, there is much that needs reform. It is wrong that this country has such a massive corporate welfare system that allows employers to pay workers so little that they need benefits to top up wages. It is wrong that social security doesn't pay enough to live on and doesn't remotely match the actual cost of living. It is wrong that there are hundreds of charities and faith groups having to provide grants and vouchers to help people cobble together the basic basket of needs. It is wrong that the housing market has been allowed to become so crazily skewed that it's messed up prices and supply -- everyone needs a safe, stable home and it's wrong that so many thousands do not have this.

It is wrong that the national discourse demonises welfare claimants when the reality is that most people claiming benefits ARE working but just earn too little. And that a good chunk of benefits is actually pensions, which were hard won but are being steadily eroded.

I feel so much shame about not working and living on benefits. Intellectually, I understand that it is just what it is but I cannot shake the deeply rooted judgement that I should be resilient, self-supporting, striving, contributing etc etc etc.

While it is immoral to falsely claim benefits, my personal view is that I can accept the system accommodates a few wrong uns if it also means that the majority of people honestly needing the support can get it. There should be consequences through the courts for fraudulently claiming benefits but we should be aware that, for every crook lying about their bad back, there are likely three more people who are eligible for benefits but not claiming.

It would take a very bold vision and some visionary political leadership to really do a root-and-branch overhaul of the whole, complicated thing but I fear that we do not have a political class who have the chops to do this. So, we're doomed to tinker around the edges and never really get to grips with the structural drivers of poverty and inequality.

Of course she's reading this, she's got duck all else to do. The Nokia won't exactly be ringing off the hook with new and exciting offers of lucrative work, she's done.

With the greatest of respect, could the benefits discussion be had elsewhere?

i have asked moderators, so trying desperately not to mod.
Why though @Silver Linings?

What brings us all here is that Jack has been misrepresenting herself and the bigger issues around poverty, disability, welfare etc are relevant.

This little corner of Tattle may not be the perfect place to have these conversations but I really value hearing everyone's views -- it's not my normal bubble and I appreciate that we are mostly polite and respectful and willing to give each space to say whatever.

And we'll get back to lampooning Jsck soon enough.

It’s not what this particular forum is for, it’s triggering and upsetting without spoilers, and Jack is not currently claiming benefits as far as we know and if she was it’s none of our business.

wait ? this woman is called JInger?!!!!

All the Duggar children have names that begin with J. Towards the end of popping out 19 kids, the parents clearly started phoning it in so there's a Joy-Anna and a Joanna. And, yes, a Jinger.

Fundamentalist Evangelical Baptists, members of the quiverfull cult/movement. One adult child in jail on child porn charges, other adult children escaping the cult to a greater or lesser extent.
