I was about to say at least the good church folk of Georgia don’t make soup out of soup, but then I consulted my copy of Tblisi’s finest and here’s Gladys Strickland letting down Southside Baptist Church, Nahunta and quite frankly herself by making Grilled Chicken and Sausage Gumbo out of ingredients that include a can of Campbell’s Chunky Grilled Chicken and Sausage Gumbo.

This is a family favorite! We regularly make it for guests too, and everyone loves it! It literally takes 5 minutes to throw this in the crockpot, which makes this one of my top go-to meals.

Those Campbells condensed soups (mainly tomato & mushroom, but did use others) were a Godsend when I was bringing up my daughter alone 35 years ago. They were excellent as a base for a Jambalaya-type dish that she used to love. She still asks me to do her the "Ricey Thing" to this day, when she comes over.

It surprises me that guest has never used these much as a base for such a cheap & nourishing meal. Actually no, forget that - she hasn't got the first clue about food & nutrition as we all know.

I used to make a garlicky chicken and mushroom thingy with rice courtesy of Campbell's condensed soup, very nice it was too. I'd forgotten all about it but would have been in my poorer days
