Yeah I will always support my husband but our marriage/romantic relationship would end if he ever said he identified as a woman because I just couldn't have romantic feels for a trans woman. That doesn't make me a bad person. It just means I have certain very clear types I find sexually/romantically attractive.

Thank you 🙂 there’s definitely an element of that, I just showed my non-autistic mum the four images of Jack. My mum doesn’t know anything about Jack and has no possible bias. She interpreted the last two photos that she was a bit awkward/anxious in the smiling one, and awkward/peeved/didn’t really want to be there in the posed one. She said she definitely didn’t look dead behind the eyes, haunted, flat etc.
 
It wasn’t Allegra who had problems with her transition, according to this article (sorry for Daily Fail).
In the Guardian article re: Jack coming out as transgender, it intimates that Jack and Allegra broke up because Jack had a breakdown.

I've taken up sewing, and there's loads of patterns for pants that are actually comfy, lots of differant options for rise, coverage and even gusset (I love that word in a Victoria wood way) width and placement, plus you can make them in any stretch fabric you choose (my dd who sews has dinosaurs roaring and star wars ones)

I'm also grunking the threads on Jackie before I joined, so you may get some likes etc from way back
 
Regarding her family’s politics, we will never know, but being successful, middle class and a landlord doesn’t mean at all that they are definitely Tories. Those types are more likely to vote Labour imo. The anti landlord stuff tends to come from very young leftists who don’t yet have their own home.

It’s all swapped around, the white working class these days tend to vote Tory while the middle class tend to vote Labour. Historical loyalty to Labour (eg in northern mining towns) is slowly being lost.

As for her brother being “very right wing” ... to the woke, saying things like “I disagree with open borders” or “what’s a non-binary?” is basically equivalent to joining the KKK.

She clearly was aiming to do something with photography and writing in 2013 when that account was set up. Then got her book deal and through all of 2014 her account is what I'd expect from a food blogger/cookbook writer. Photos of food with some description and a few personal bits in between. Not my type of food, but nothing awful. And generally an upbeat, positive tone. Then the account stopped and she switched to a new one, along with a new personality, it seems.

There's very little chance a landlord with multiple properties would ever not vote tory, though. The additional regulations & associated costs a labour gov't would impose on them would be ruinous, it's been bad enough under their beloveds the last few years. It's also about practicing the principles you claim to hold, you simply would not be a landlord if you cared about inequality in this country, sorry. I wanted to buy a second home in the motherlandTM and then I remembered what an utterly cunty thing that is to do & is why there's issues of homelessness & property prices rising exponentially. It's not hard to not be a trash person?

I don't think that finding property or wealth hoarding reprehensible is a particularly young ideology. Nor one that leaves you when you don't own a home, next it'll be the patronising old shite of 'they'll vote labour until they start earning proper money!' :rolleyes: When people say oh it's the young that hold these ideals, the corbynites, rah rah rah it's a super dismissive way of just referencing actually socialist ideas rather than the centre lite tit we've been expected to be happy with for years.

Jumping forward in time again. Jack didn’t ever say that the transitioning was the reason for the break up. I personally think that she just said those poorly words (I like girls babe) to add a little something juicy to the article.
I’d imagine it was soul destroying for poor Allegra to watch Jack repeated bastardisation of food! Can just imagine her crying inside when faced with a pile of slop.

sidenote: I’m rapidly developing a severe dislike for the word slop 🤢

Amen! To add, all the people who got progressively more right wing since the 70s probably got massive financial benefits from the neoliberal/free market policies of the late 20th century. In addition to cheap property, free education, low cost of living etc. Not to get the violin out too much but there's none of that now! So why would anyone go more right wing when right wing policies essentially pulled the ladder up on anyone below middle age?!
