I think she might have been quoting me when she was talking about her partner and not earning 300k. I did say a total package worth 300k not a gross wage. Which I will go to court and testify that's around the right amount for her new job and the perks ☺️. I notice she didn't try to dispute that her partner is a millionaire or has assets worth well over that herself. There's been hundreds of accusations on here and she picks a few and then makes up lies about what's said here. Can we take legal action against her? 😀

Do we though Jack?

One last time for people at the back, we LOVE your show. We love it because it provides hours and hours of entertainment dissecting it and the presenting skills on it. Nobody wants you fired because it’s the best laugh any of us have had since lockdown started. Nobody has spammed the show wanting you fired. But don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story for sympathy 😉
If we wanted her fired so badly wtf would we be watching her “stroll onto our screens” it’s not like there are no other options?!

I’m in two minds as to if she will be there tomorrow.

I think there’s a chance she’s used the Tattle thread to start the ball rolling about how she can’t go to the studio because of the mean people around on the internet who think corned beef shouldn’t be grated. What sort of sadist spends their weekend looking up a thread about themselves? All you’ll spend the show doing is thinking about what those people are saying. It’s very strange behaviour.

On the other hand, I really hope she does as every lie will be exposed about the illnesses she apparently has. And it’ll be a car crash. I’m so here for 10am tomorrow, we really hope the show gets extended Jack! It fills lockdown up with endless tattle threads.
She’ll claim she is at risk of some crazy stalker

I remember seeing an article in the Daily Fail maybe last year, pulling up well-paid BBC newsreaders for taking on lucrative after-dinner speaking to boost their income. The general consensus from the tone of the article and the comments appeared to be that they were earning way too much anyway so this was outrageous given we pay the wages. Obviously JM is not a newsreader and I wouldn’t even hazard a guest how much she’s earned for DK...but we have paid her wage so how can the BBC ignore her begging for money in what must be a recent post as it mentions COVID?

Getting paid really well by the BBC but putting it mostly to one side and being very cautious as she has always done.

Tell us again why you were asking people to PayPal you cash Jack?

People have weird and uncomfortable politics around marriage & women as a result of all the weird socialisation and internalised misogyny we’ve ingested. I’ve only been married less than a year but have found it very unpleasant to navigate with some women of a certain generation.

Couldn’t agree more. I kept my name when I got married. I just didn’t want to give it up. My mum was so appalled when I told her. She’ll post a birthday card to Mrs Hisname to make a point. It’s been nearly ten years and she still does it!

I think the point isn’t how many hundreds of thousands she earns, but more the cheek of someone with a partner who has a healthy stable income suggesting they’re merely / exclusively on a living wage... The same would apply if she was on £50k tbqh, but good on her for the job love ch4 news 🧠
Yes exactly! Very very very decent salary. That much is certain. Also from looking at her Instagram before, their home is really quite lovely from most angles. The fake poverty is really unacceptable. We have friends that we don’t really see a great deal anymore, after we helped them out loads, as friends do, only to then realise that they had loads of savings and were overpaying their mortgage. Jack saying she’s paying herself a living wage, I think she’s probably dividing her salary up into hourly rate and lying to herself that she’s doing 20 hour days, which no doubt doesn’t add up to much per hour! In another thing she said she will deliberately only pay herself a living wage and save the rest. That’s fair enough, do what you like with your money, but please don’t plead poverty and beg from everyone else!

All this talk of harrasment and court cases is so ridiculous. I've just finished lily Allen's book and she had a stalker break into her house in the middle of the night and confront her in her bedroom, take her handbag then burn it and take it back to leave on her car. She had to really fight for the stalker to be prosecuted for harrasment and for the police to take it seriously.

I think we're ok talking about the breed of a cat and one person emailing the BBC to give feedback on a TV show 😆

That's absolutely shocking about your friends.

Eurgh I hate all this libertarian crap that is you go to Eton you’re a horrible person and it’s ok to have a pop. You cannot pick the situation to which you are born. It’s major chip on the shoulder stuff. And I agree that the media, it’s two white, too male, too privately educated and wealthy. It’s is not representative of the real world. Neither is Jack. My daughter is privately educated. I’ve made that decision, for my reasons. I’d hate to think of the likes of ruby ripping her to shreds for my decision. If the education I’ve paid for has been worth it, the kiddo will know it’s been a privilege and given her an advantage. Just like poor people don’t live off chips and cheese and all have massive tellies, not all privately educated people and posh ( which seems to be anyone who likes a bleeping prawn) are cunts
If I was a cookbook writer, as soon as I had some money I’d get on a course. More to get some skills and expand my palate. Sure, your mind might work in weird ways. And, you know what, I actually buy the tea in (fresh meat) chilli. But you also need to know fundamentals. I’m also a firm believer that you never stop learning. That’s why chefs travel and collaborate. Learn new techniques and flavours.
Also, maybe if she travelled beyond the London-esq media bubble she is now part of, she will see how people eat. One piece of meat to stretch a week. Mince stretched with lentils and veg. There has been really insightful chat on this threat about food banks. What is often available, so there is a good scope of how to turn those stapes into a meal.
A good idea for her would be to go to food banks. (Has she ever been) Then work with them re what a general parcel and how to turn it into meals.A campaign about what’s the best to donate. Cooking classes for food poor people to show them skills. As some people might just not know these basics that will help them.
I think she’s done well for herself (I don’t believe half of the lies she tells mind). She has a great platform and I wish she’d do more with it. It’s too much look what I’ve done. I was so poor now I’m a massive food writer. But still so poor.
Jack just admit you’re no longer poor. You might not be as wealthy as your food writing contemporaries but you’re not in the foodbanks. It’s not going to break your brand. You can talk in past tense about problems you know!

Eurgh that went longer than I thought. I just think, if she wanted to, she really could do something good!

As someone said on this thread previous it’s poverty safari. The upper middle class interpretation of poor. That they all live in dangerous rented accommodation and need guidance to cook with tinned things and are generally unhappy.

Yes! That's exactly what it is. I remember going on holiday with some friends - we had a big house, self catering, loads of folk - quite a mix (relevant). Everyone mucked in and we had a great time.

Anyway, I was chatting in the kitchen with my cleaning - up buddy and mentioned the novelty of having a dishwasher. They were quite shocked!

As an official poor person (we are currently reliant on benefits) I'd say we eat pretty well. Generally fresh or frozen stuff. No bean rinsing required!

As a long time lurker, my first post to all you 'bitter cranks' is that alongside all the tea spilling and receipts 🤭, I've seen some of the funniest, articulate posts and genuine altruistic kindness 🤩. As someone dealing with poor mh, you Tattlers somehow quieten my noisy brain and give me much needed actual laugh out loud moments. TY 🥳

I know! Imagine how shocked we were! We were worrying about them, going without so that their children didn’t have to, including them in everything at our own expense. Turns out they just didn’t want to spend their money 😱 like I said we don’t see them much anymore, but I didn’t make a song and dance about it because I felt like we’d made those choices ourselves and sort of took it as a punishment for our foolishness.
