Not to throw this off topic and maybe explains why Jack does this but I’ve faced weird misogyny/assumptions from my own peers. My fiancé and I are, as suggested unmarried. I plan to keep my surname and our child has a double barrelled surname as a result. We were asked by more of our peers if our child was a ‘happy accident’ as we weren’t married. I expected it from older relatives not my mainly female peers! It infuriated me (still does now!) and they couldn’t understand it my frustration and how insensitive it was. So maybe Jack’s referring to the GF as Mrs J comes from that same weird socialisation/internalised misogyny?

omg that is such a vile thing to ask, how bleeping rude? What do you even say to that if you don’t mind me asking?! I’d be so shocked. I agree massively I think despite commercial feminism girl boss tit actually challenging ideas of family structures and women’s roles and respectability politics still has such a long way to go. It’s almost as if feminism only thrives in a capitalistic / career sense tbh??

And likewise actually found it quite perverse when we finally managed to conceive the baby I’m currently growing how many people felt it perfectly acceptable to make comments about a honeymoon baby etc, we’d had a super traumatic time the previous year with a 3 week hospital stay & major surgery, I had been diagnosed with ovarian tumours and lost an ovary and didn’t know if the other one worked, plus they didn’t know if it was fully blown eats ur organs cancer (I still need regular checks as there’s a risk it is / was, I always thought cancer was a straight forward binary turns out it’s really not lol) and these people knew about this?!! It’s really put me off a lot of people and made me want to limit the exposure my soon to be daughter will have to them. They’re also the Mrs X YYY letter writers...
