I bought a bunch of trifle ingredients today just to spite her. And a lemon swiss roll. At some point, when I have time I'm going to make the thing. Not because of the Jubilee (I've been out of the country and missed most of it plus nobody I know would do anything for it anyway) but because a) those flavours are right up my street and b) duck Jack. I had originally been thinking of half arseing it (hence swiss roll) but I might even try to make the whole thing from scratch as an act of pure spite (and a little bit of a personal challenge as I enjoy cooking but have never made amaretti biscuits, custard or lemon swiss roll)

I've honestly thought that, in recent months. Sometimes it does seem like she's gotten away with so much - and she knows it; she's deliberately pushing to see how far she can go. Like the very blatant unfair costings she did. I do think now at times, it's a bit of a game for her. She knows how easy it is for her to get away with deceiving people, that's why she's so cocky these days.
 
Does anyone know if the squigs are just playing wishful thinking? This is with the replies to her abomination. They couldn’t possibly have seen a single episode of DKL, her ridiculous Lorraine slots, or any of her Insta lives or they wouldn’t be thinking this.

You would think the very fact that she hasn't after a decade of books and erm campaigning that has hasnt got a TV show is telling. The TV people don't just go for the people well liked or even interesting, judging by some of the tit they play, but they do have skill in their craft and have onscreen Charisma, something she lacks!

She is also uncomfortable to watch as she always seems… Off, somehow. Drunk? Too many Adderall/Ritalin? Narc rage she’s dying to get back to on Twatter? All of the above?

It works for her, she’s like Teflon with her lies and scams.

In that repulsive Guardian article they described her as having contributed to Asda to lowering their prices; that she’s launched a libel action against Lee Anderson*; and that she’s working on the Vimes Boots Index as if it’s a real thing.

Jack just says things, and the papers report it as fact. She doesn’t need to ever lift a finger, just needs to talk about it, and everyone thinks it’s really happened.

*I just want to bask in smugness here that I predicted that the libel wouldn’t actually go ahead but everyone, including Jack, would continue to talk about it as if it’s a real thing that’s happening, then it would become an official part of Jack Monroe lore.

Yeah, I thought that was her point. That's what happens but it shouldn't. People are afraid to stand up for themselves. This is going to sound very Pollyanna and simplistic but truth is the best defence in these cases. That's why we're all here I guess? On a daily basis libel threats are bandied about by people who haven’t got a clue.

She has very recently been on radio and TV and all of it was an enormous cringe. Even some of the fans were concerned about her. For us it was fairly standard JM cringe. I honestly can't think of anyone who sounds or looks more awkward. I am choosing to believe that some of the mega fans are playing with her or genuinely haven't seen her on anything but the news. 🤞

From what I can tell, they don’t want books sent to them, they want money so that they can buy the specific books that the homeless people actually want. I don’t see what use a cookbook would be to a rough sleeper, if they did want one it would be a better one than hers.

I'm not trying to be funny, but why, if you're homeless, would you want to be carrying books around with you? It's extra weight and stuff to be trying to hide. Husband, when he'd go begging would have a safe place he'd stash his things so he didn't have to take them all with him. He'd try to sleep away from main areas, somewhere more private, so his bits weren't going to be stolen, and then walk into the main town.

The place I work for has a charity. For every $15 raised, they donate a sheet set and towel to people in need. Our local one is a DV shelter, other stores have worked with flood relief victims, and homeless groups. That would be more useful than a book.

Loving herself sick right there. The Lady Man pictures never fail to make me laugh. Just what the actual duck were they thinking? Kids have better understanding of nuance than Jack and the people who put that article together.

I thought so too. It's a nice idea, and homeless people are entitled to enjoy reading and having books of their own, but wouldn't it be more convenient to go to a library? Also the money raised would be better spent on food, sleeping bags etc.

It’s a bit of a dodgy one- some homeles people are 8n insecure housing like b&b/hostels/YMCA but either way up, a cookbook is fairly low on the list of things you could buy them. Apart from the fact that any recipient in Jack’s books are likely to be a waste of food. She’s be bette4 selling photos of her tits that she’s always photographing and donating the £12.

Yeah they’re like superheros, right? But not all heros wear capes, so we’re going to stand them on red velvet plinths, like from the end of olympics, yeah? The medals bit, coz they’re heros who deserve a medal. Doing like a superhero pose! No medals though. But not all heros wear capes. But then they will wear capes, but not superhero ones, red velvet ones down to the floor. With a gold bit but not a gold medal. Like a Roman emperor! Like Nero. Not all Nero’s wear capes but these heros do, but they don’t, but they are super. I think it’s a very simple and easy to understand concept.
