Jack Monroe #295 Yeah I already read that. Didn't inspire much hope in me.

I bloody love that song even though I have no friggin idea what it’s about. Pumble now, I guess!
I think it’s just about an old folk dance (?) called La Bamba (La Pumble). I taught myself to sing it after watching the film about Ritchie Valens, called La Bamba, surprisingly 😂.

One of my favourite lines is:
Yo no soy marinero
Soy capitán, soy capitán, soy capitán

which means - I am not a sailor, I’m the captain
(Or in Jack’s case, I’m not a fireman,
I’m the chief, I’m the chief)

I feel like by the time we get to the next thread it will read like this…

”Pumble plumble plumble thread #296! Pumble plumble and plumble 🥳 you win plumble!

Pumble plumble plumble plumble plumble plumble plumble wiki. Pumble plumble plumble plumble plumble plumble plumble swearing!”

…and we‘ll all somehow understand it perfectly.

Is Pumble the new Harold? 😉

Can someone please work out rough calories in that claggy crap she’s calling dinner?

As if she tries to lie she feeds her partner and child that when she can afford to eat fillet steak every freaking night! Those sausages look like when you put a fork in water is just going to spurt out everywhere. Not even fillet steak, just good quality sausages from a butcher, but nope, some weird point to prove to people on the internet she never has and never will meet.
It’s ok. After that performative crap for strangers on the internet, this is what everyone in the crappy bungalow is really having for dinner

End of a thread musings;

If Jack wanted to learn to swim, she could easily learn now. I didn't learn until I was 19, I rarely go swimming, but am capable of the task.

It's like she brings it up to slight her mum, a subtle nasty little dig. If you want to swim Jack go bloody learn, it's easy as pie pumble!

My mum didn’t learn to swim till she was 40. She got flung into the deep end when she was at school and was terrified of the water. She took swimming lessons and now she can swim. And she made sure I was in lessons when I was 8 as she didn’t want me to have the fear she had.

Ahahaha me too! Nobody else remembers that movie 😂🎉

Also, from the firefighter's site-

As part of their duties, Firefighters are generally expected to be able to perform in-water rescues if required. Therefore firefighters need to be able to swim and be confident in water to the levels set in the essential criteria by the FRS. These may vary slightly from FRS to FRS – like everything else in the process!

What else can we expect from someone who says on national radio on a show called “A Life in Food” that what they had for breakfast was a handful of pick and mix that was lying by the bed. I only know 2 people who suffer from rheumatoid arthritis but they certainly take a lot more care over their diet than Jack does.
The one time when she should have just lied! 😆

Totes. I leaned in my late twenties. I'm much older now and swimming is one of my most favourite joys on earth

Ah Jack was never going to be a firefighter, can you imagine her running in your burning room and greeting your cries with, "ooh I know, I'm constantly starting fires in my kitchen of my rented house x"
