I have too meet Victoria. In two occasions, and I can only say positive things, and of Alex too. I know this is not a popular thing to share in here (😆) but it is the true.
However, what she portrays in her channels bothers me a bit to be honest. I do think she has a lot of potential and she is one of the few in the industry that has knowledge about fashion, marketing, branding, etc... but somehow, somewhere she got lost. Perhaps she has been felling uninspired and/or burned out. This has been happening to 95% of them, and this pandemic only accentuated it.

It’s really lovely to hear that she is nice IRL! I used to follow Bloggers when ‘blogging’ was a thing before Instagram took over (anyone else use Bloglovin’?!), and hope that Vic (and others) can use this time to reflect, get out of this funk and return to meaningful content. I work in Marketing, and hope that many brands, like us, are taking time to pause and reflect on how this pandemic is going to shape the industry and life in the future.

Also, Really irritated by LV sending bloggers like ITF free bags worth over £2.3k... how tone deaf.

She has fallen apart since lockdown. I had to unfollow her on insta because of the endless makeup tutorials in a time where few people are even wearing let alone buying make up. As for her YouTube videos, what is going on there? She has no imagination, no creative content, so forgettable. I've stopped watching. Seeing her manic behaviour made me feel so anxious!

Excellent. She’s going to educate herself on racism and BLM by following the steps given by Liv Purvis (white woman). Takes Liv Purvis to comment and tell her to follow black women for education.

I hate that she’s thinks she’s doing the right thing by talking about it, but then coming off stupidly misguided and not even got the balls or intelligence to credit the rightful people. All the comments praising her and liv purvis too. Why not praise the black men and women writing and educating and speaking out.Ugh.

Notice her replies do not commit to sharing any materials from black people tho 🤔

I find all these pointless claims so hypocritical. How can you even say something like that? You will go and educate yourself? Okay, and? Should we now praise you for the effort? Maybe it’s a bit lost in translation for me, as I’m not a native English speaker, but wouldn’t you be ashamed of saying you need to go research and educate yourself on discrimination? Where have you been until now? And who cares about your “research”? All is expected from each individual is to treat everyone equally.
I don’t know. To me her post is shocking and a major expression of white supremacy. She sounds like “oh, elephants are being tortured? I should go research it more. Sorry if I happened to ride an elephant before guyzzzzz”. I mean if I knew her personally, and I was an elephant, and she would say she goes research more on my suffering...As if I need her pity.
Covering her behind and whitewashing herself just in case. Pun intended.

@Brunette_ couldn't agree more. If you don't know enough on the subject and need to research, why post on it? Influencers, not everything needs your hot take. Just more virtue signalling nonsense
What they can and should do is to refuse their participation in brand campaigns with no diverse representation of bloggers. For instance, that new LV. I’ve seen a dozen of white influenzas in my Instagram feed receiving that bag and posting an AD on the same day. Not a single WOC among them.

Agree with this. I've seen a lot of criticism of people this weekend of people who are staying silent, but I disagree with the implicit suggestion that you're OK as long as you 'speak out' on social media. A few posts on social media don't equate to not being a racist. Vic has a platform. She can actually use it to effect change. Post a picture of a book by a POC and maybe the fan poodles will buy and read it too, have a public policy on diversity in campaigns and press trips she participates in and stick to it, champion talent but do more than empty platitudes.

agree. These influencers think a few posts ticks the box and then they can move back on to their advertising. It’s insulting.
There’s no way the likes of Vicky will turn down free LV bags or trips because of a lack of diversity.
Everything she’s posted is just lip service.

I've said this on someone else's thread, but I think it's genuinely better to say nothing if you're just sharing to jump on the bandwagon, and it isn't an issue close to your heart. Like I wouldn't look to Vic as a voice to influence me on social changes. What she's shared is half arsed as always, and done just to cover her arse.

It's like Caroline flack all over again. Everyone hopping on be kind, when she's dead... Yet not one of them spoke up for her beforehand. Same again here.

This is why I love Hautelemode. He’s a serious student of fashion - the history, the construction, the meanings, the critiques. I think even if Vic did pivot to be more informative about the business or history of fashion, she’d have to do A LOT of reading up on it. Lest we forget, her PhD is in fashion digital marketing which, at the end of the day, is just how to sell clothing on digital platforms.

It’s the honorable privileged white Woman’s guide to racism. What a bleeping joke.

I hate when she preaches sustainability but being in NYC and seeing what’s happening across America, this touches a nerve even worse. She needs to sit her white bum down. Her entire existence is white privilege and pushing white privilege even further for brands that exploit people of color in horrific working conditions to sell more crap to white people.

She is not a strong ally to people of color and if she thinks she is - she’s even more delusional than I thought.

She just shared a deluge of Black instagrammers. Let’s see if 6 months from now, she’s still amplifying their voices. At least she’s delaying her Sunday vid unlike ahem ahem LYDIA.

This is the first time I’ve ever seen her promote a black influencer that isn’t Patricia... it’s embarrassing that she’s being this transparent and “look at me I’m a GOOD white person”. It’s about long term actions Vic! Get a black fashion influencer in your channel and ask them what their experiences have been like? Tell the brands you work with you won’t work with them unless black influencers are also involved, give up your seat on trips for black influencers.... that’s a true ally

I wrote a comment on her IG photo last night, and I had to stop myself from commenting “uplift black voices...that aren’t Patricia.” Patricia does have that new business series she started while in lockdown. Haven’t heard a peep of support from Vic about it.

Glad I’m not the only one who takes these sudden outcries from Vic and crew completely with a grain of salt. Great point from Zoe referencing the rainforest!

These fake cries of outrage are ridiculous. All a performance to seem “woke” before they can continue with the usual pushing consumerism.

Most of these influencers have NO black people in their “in-house teams” NO black people in their friendship groups that aren’t other influencers. Look at Victoria’s wedding, aside from Patricia where were her black friends? Same for Lydia.

This is all to protect their brands because I bet their DMs have been on fire and that makes it all the more disgusting. I’m not expecting them to do everything right but just like everything else Vic does, nothing is genuine. How can you not be genuine about RACISM? What a complete and utter weirdo.

She’s awful

she's writing about racism all a while selling her gifted tat on depop the girl can multi task! I wish people like her did not use racism or any other current situations to their gain, its sad and pathetic and no one is fooled by it!! Where have they been living until now have they just realised there are people suffering and being persecuted because the colour of their skin, sexuality or race? why do they need something terrible to happen to raise awareness ....it is bad enough when I see them trying to convince people to buy hideous square shoes ( bottega v I am looking at you) now she's preaching about race, B...please go fix yourself and stick to what you don't know "fashion" - when I look at her and her content its like looking in a Lydia mirror only uglier if that is even possible, same dressing rooms, same brands, same content, they drag their partners who are also now influencers on free trips and sh*t, its like a completion on who's worse, I wish there was a virus that would wipe out influencers. ( not kill them 😁 of course , just be rid of them) its about time these parasites did a honest days job like the rest of us!
