While I don't necessarily think this decision is race based (Charlene's certainly wasnt) it is quite a stat that in 20 years not one person of another race has won I'm a celebrity. Its kind of funny considering how inclusive ITV likes to call itself, yet its flagship shows (think love Island too) don't reflect that.

I'll be surprised If Charlene doesn't bring it up at somepoint

By the same metric though how many poc people have been in every group? Surely it would need to be a 50/50 split if we were going to extrapolate meaningful results, it's not like we have a control group.

I was a bit indifferent to Scarlette, that's a risky place to be for a reality TV show. Her demo of how it's not easy to present a place in the sun was a bit

What ethnic minority contestant over the years came closest?

I don't think it's race - there have been black winners of X Factor and Big Brother - what's different about IAC? Baba is boring, and Scarlette while pleasant didn't get a lot of screen time and doesn't have an obvious fanbase from before IAC.

X factor and BB are on for much longer maybe so you get to know people properly? I’m a celeb is short time to make an impact if you don’t have a fanbase like Scarlette

couldn’t believe how BG sped through Chris’ letter - I don’t like Chris particularly but they’re supposed to be mates! Esp seeing how much feeling the others all put into each other’s. What would he have done for someone he disliked? Probably would’ve just chucked Matt’s into the fire

And also when he gave up so easily on trying to get Seann's letter from home. Just as well Jill, Scarlet and Owen did so well.

So either Chris will do it again or someone else will (and probably better him)

Baba was 2nd to last today.
Its not a good look.
Can't be ignored.

Should be ignored. If you think it’s colour issue the you make a issue out of colour…. Baba and Scarlet were actually always close to the top to win if you look the betting odds. Charlene was voted out for about 50 issues, none of them because of her skin colour.. I think with Scarlet and Baba it’s the typical reality tv case when viewers think “they are probably safe so I’d rather vote for x, y, z”
I really enjoy I’m a celeb because they are not choosing people like it’s Noah’s Arc and they have to represent every race and minority groups. Strictly is ruined for me not for the fact that they do have all kinds of people but the fact it’s a obvious box ticking excercise: one black, one white, one asian, one very old, one very young, one disabled, one LGBT etc….. I think it doesn’t demonstrate inclusion but hilites that “we see you’re different to us but you can play with us anyway” Whereas in ideal world we should be colourblind and not even think that just because someone is “different” they’re not included in something
* Sorry if my rambling doesn’t make sense. I’m sleepy and heavily medicated for my toothache but in my head I make sense Not trying to start a debate either, just my opinion and I understand others see things in a different way

This race thing has spoilt this thread for me. I loved Scarlett and was shocked to see her picked. I had her up there in the cyclone with Owen and Mike hopefully..I am white but none of this race nonsense crossed my mind......until now...

I was expecting it only because there’s newspapers that will make out there’s a race row about everything. On strictly when Fleur was against Ritchie in the dance off there was an article about a race row

Not attempting to moderate it ultimately nobody needs to do what I say I just think when it comes to contentious topics, I prefer it when it’s either spoken about with all respectful (ie not rude) arguments welcome or not at all. Can’t stand it when people say “let’s not talk about it” but actually mean “don’t say the thing I disagree with”

Yes, makes it even sadder that Scarlette has gone. She was excellent in that trial - arguably I think more skilful than fitness fanatics Mike, Jill and Owen! Boy George and sue really looked like they couldn’t be fucked
