The highlight of last night's show was Owen unarticulately saying a motivational quote that sounded like it was from a tea bag.

My five year old goddaughter has an age appropriate book and she's always saying motivational things from it with more conviction.

Then seann going way over the top saying how amazing and incredible it all was.

I'd love a psychologist to give an opinion of what's happening there. He's done this a few times - bizarrely praise someone over nothing.

Chris moyles is a bully though, way back in 2003 or so for months he was relentlessly bullying at the time the teenage by reffering to her as the ugly one from girls allowed.

Teenager she was 16 or 17 nicola Roberts. So he's a known bully.
See, I didn’t know that, and I liked him cos he was coming over all humble and self-depricating in the jungle. What you say shows him in a different light. Wonder whether getting pushed out of his Radio 1 slot had an effect on his cockiness though and that he’s better for it? I don’t know enough about him tbf.

Charlene was annoyed because Matt said he didn’t break any rules. She had to sit alone at her aunts funeral whilst he was with Gina
Its not MH fault her aunt died…and the potenial spread of covid at a gathering like a funeral would have a much more serious consequence than 2 adults who worked together having it off with each other…again not justifying MH behaviour (the affair was a scumbag move) but pol like charlene etc dont seem to see the bigger picture at all, 1. covid was no one persons fault, 2. Restrictions were necessary in group/ gathering settings and in healthcare settings, the bigger picture was to save lives, every person in the uk broke at least one ‘guideline’ at some point but the overall need for restrictions in hospitals/funerals/weddings etc served a bigger purpose than the mixing households guidelines….

Yeah it was pretty relentless, I've looked back articles of it and nicola stated it went on for years. I remember he used to call her the ugly one or the ginger one from girls allowed and refused to say her name. There was never a reason for it but according to him she was mardy when she met him, she was a 16 year old shy girl at the time and wasn't as outspoken as the other girls. Horrible man.

This thread makes me wonder how people actually plump for their winner.
What's your criteria? 🤔
What matters most?
🤔

Being pleasant? - sunny disposition, positive, no moaning, well-liked by fellow campmates

Effective at tasks?

Emotionally supportive of fellow campmates - a good listening ear, giving pep talks, knowing when someone needs a hug etc

Being entertaining - lifting the mood in camp with stories/jokes/games, leading singsongs, playing pranks etc

Bringing drama - being a diva/melodramatic, arguing, bitching etc

Overcoming fears, going on the biggest 'journey' etc (sorry! 🙄)

Purely because of who/what they represent eg you're a massive fan of rugby/royal family/a particular band/TV show/political party etc

Being the underdog - are you drawn to the hopeless/useless ones who are rubbish at everything but try hard, so they get your sympathy vote?!

If you didn’t actually like a contestant's personality but you really enjoyed watching them, could they still be your winner? 🤔

If a contestant didn't get much airtime but when they were shown they were always entertaining, would they be worthy of the win? 🤔

Interesting! Yeah, come to think of it, I do have a bit of an underdog thing going on. I warmed to Baba and Chris precisely because they were tit at tasks!

Then again, Charlene was my favourite right back at the beginning on top of that tower. So I admire bravery too.

Regardless its not him doing the bitching and sniping they are, they are showing the public who they are with zero help from matt Hancock. And as. I stated I have every right to hate him, anyone who has worked in a care home during the pandemic will know the feelings I had. Telling people with dementia that their family members were on holiday and see them soon. The keeping them apart which was difficult as some liked to wander, it was like being part of the gestapo, telling them to stay away from each other, the only human interaction they had was staff behind masks, so you had them scared stiff. it's the only way I can look at it, it was bleeping heartbreaking.
I just have to say how amazing you, and care workers, are. I could prattle on but that's what I want to say.

In terms of truly personal stuff (I wouldn’t expect Matt to discuss this)
We know Sue’s adoption story and how she got reunited with her biological mum, and had to have a lot of therapy
We know Seann’s dad was a heroin addict
We know Chris moyles got done over by the BBC, we heard him speak frankly about how there is always a time limit on a radio 1 job

Light personal stuff:
We know Chris moyles lived in LA for a while as a consequence of what happened at the BBC and met his long term girlfriend there
We heard what jobs Seann, Scarlette Mike and Baba did before, and how they were at school
We know loads about BG honestly he loves talking about himself
We heard Sue and Charlene discuss missing their kids
We know Seann had a crush on Ariel from the little mermaid lol
We know Mike slut dropped in front of the Princess Anne and ripped his trousers open and has a pair of boxers that say “nibble my nuts”
We know Owen loves his family and also food, we know he is extra enough to get two haircuts a week, we know he likes speaking to people at the gym and making friends there. It sounds silly but it’s personal still

I haven’t learned more about Matt beyond what I’ve heard on the news other than that he plays the bugle. Fair enough if he doesn’t want to discuss it, but hes said he went on in the hope people see his human side and the real him so
I found it quite funny that they seemed to be trying to outdo each other on the sob story front which is purely done to try and garner sympathy with the public in the hope it will keep them in or get them to the final. Its all very calculated and contrived. Viewers got sick of the x factor style 'woe is me' tales and its no different with this set up.
Charlene's sob story didn't do her any favours.
Matt might have some sad tales but is choosing not to go there because unike them he'll get hounded for it.

Ah this is interesting. I do agree about the X factor style woes but I don’t really feel that is what was happening here by and large. Maybe im too optimistic 🙂

I agree that a lot of those stories are things Matt wouldn’t be able to say without getting roasted for it - in his shoes, as much as I dislike his politics, I wouldn’t want to share personal things to a public that would be callous about it - it’s sad to think people would take the piss out of him if he for instance said his dad was a heroin addict, like that’s not on at all. And he will get mocked for sharing stories where he makes a prat of himself, but at the same time, I think it would reflect well on him if he could make fun of himself a bit. Just demonstrate a bit of self-awareness I guess.

(BTW excellent question mags!! I’m looking forward to seeing what people say. I’ll answer in a bit :))
