IBS/IBD sufferers...

I took Psylium for 18 months and it was brilliant, but now has no effect 😔

I'm very much aware of magnesium citrate, but I've not tried it yet due to the concern it will work great initially but then after a year or so, will lose impact.
Ah I’m so sorry. That must be so disappointing. Have you ever met with a dietician about it?

Has anyone tried the Low FODMAP diet? I’m a new member (long time lurker) so can’t make a new thread yet but I think a Low FODMAP thread could be helpful for sharing advice, experiences and accidental Fodmap foods in supermarkets ?

New to this thread, I know tattle would have experts 😂

My partner has just been told to follow a FODMAP diet, does any one have any info they can give, meal ideas etc?

Everything I cook has onion and garlic in it so currently scratching my head 🤦🏽‍♀️

Thanks. No, I haven't. I mean I eat wholegrain bread and cereals, fresh vegetable soup daily, loads of fruit, nuts, seeds (incl flax and chia), herbal teas, 2L water per day. I think I have mostly all the "good poop" foods. A combination of soluable and insoluble fibre. I go for a 30-40 min walk most days, do yoga, etc.

I would find it hard to imagine it's food or lifestyle related, but don't know 🤷🏻‍♀️

I am on that diet with the support of my dietician, I get all my recipes off TikTok. Just type in FODMAP.

Can I ask, what symptoms did you have? And was your issue diagnosed by the colonoscopy?

Mine were quite unusual. I had sudden severe pain and was rushed into hospital with an Appendicitis. They opened me up and found a huge mass on my bowel - had a right Hemicolectomy (basically removed half my bowel).

I find they definitely get to me on time. If it’s because the prescription isn’t getting to them on time then that’s down to your IBD nurses not sending it on time. I have never been able to book through the app though, but that’s a minor inconvenience.

My IBD nurses are usually on time with the prescriptions but who knows 🤷🏻‍♀️. I much preferred when it was Healthcare at Home, the service was so much better.

Do you find Sciencus reliable? I've missed 2 does due to their terrible service. I've been calling non stop and all they ever say is that they can't help me because they haven't received my prescription 🙄
I haven’t had any issues except I was on a break whilst pregnant and they were literally ringing me everyday to arrange delivery

Hi

I had a (non digestive) surgery recently and was on really strong codine which caused constipation, and was prescribed laxities as well as antibiotics for weeks.
I now have:
gas, cramps, stabbing sharp pains, swollen belly like I’m pregnant, feeling sick, loss of appetite etc.
It is awful. I have no idea what to do or whether I should go to the doctor (it’s been 4 days of almost like glass shards passing through my guts). Any time I’ve had something like this it’s passed quickly but I think the constipation, laxatives then antibiotics has messed me up 😢

Should I go to the dr?
What food should I eat? (Pasta killed me yesterday)
Can IBS just appear like this?

thank you all in advance but let me know if this isn’t the place for questions like this x

See your dr. Any sudden unexplained changes with your bowel habits need to be looked into.

I am really hoping there is someone still about here!

I have a colonoscopy tomorrow. Had my first dose of plenvu at 5 and was fine. Struggled a bit drinking it but it was grand. Started my second dose at 9 as instructed. Couldn’t even finish the drink before I started to feel sick and I’ve just been really sick 😭 is this normal? I feel so tired and can’t sleep because I need to drink the water. Not even attempting the last quarter of the drink 🤢

I had plenvu earlier this year for my colonoscopy. Vile stuff! I would say maybe give the unit a call in the morning to let them k is it’s made you vomit. Is it working well otherwise?

I can’t remember what I took before my colonoscopy but it wasn’t Plenvu. I threw up as well. Not the medication, but the Lucozade I was sipping to try to keep my sugar levels up. I felt horrific. Literally like I had a gastro bug.

Hopefully what you’ve drank already has been enough to clear the bowel. The procedure is nowhere near as bad as the prep, I promise!

First dose did and tmi but it was clear before the end but that second dose is rough. I thought people over exaggerated 😞

Thank you! I didn’t think it would be this bad. Staying with my mum and had a wee cry and a mummy hug so feeling a bit better but just going to try drink a bit more water as I didn’t even get the 500ml to go with the drink. Hoping I get a good sleep.

Did you get any sedation or anything?
