Not sure if this is to be believed but interesting development if it is true....so..are they not coming back?

Interesting article. They assume he paid $3mil

In September, a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said that Harry "fully covered" the renovation costs of Frogmore Cottage, which were said to be around $3 million. The costs had originally been paid by the Sovereign Grant, the U.K. fund set aside for royals that is fueled by taxpayers.

when all he did pay was

"A contribution has been made to the Sovereign Grant by the Duke of Sussex," the statement said. "This contribution as originally offered by Prince Harry has fully covered the necessary renovation costs of Frogmore Cottage

IIRC the house needed new heating and a new electrical system. That was necessary.

Unnecessary was the conversion into a single home for the Dumbartons, the new floors, kitchen, a 50.000 Pounds green water boiler, vegan paint, swimming yoga floor...

So, the question remains: Did he really pay back $3mil? Or did he just pay what was 'necessary' and everyone just assumed he paid the full sum??? Unless I see an official statement from some government body, I call bullshit and go on thinking they cleverly played with words and just paid the electrician.

I don't see why Harry had to pay for renovations if the place was going to be given away to Eugenie.

I suspect Eugenie would never have got a look-in if Harry hadn't bolted. The renovations were excessive - copper bath for one - and there was much revolt about that. I do feel that a portion of the renovation costs paid should be refunded to Charles or him - whoever paid - in light of recent developments with E&J moving in, as they will get to realise the full benefit of all the works.

I read that Harry and Meghan will stay at Frogmore with Eugenie and Jack if they do visit - I just cannot see that happening!

I wonder who will get the little cottage that Harry and Meghan lived in first, then Eugenie and Jack - perhaps Beatrice? If nobody, then Harry should be given that when he returns home (which he will, alone, I am sure).

I wonder if Meghan's "confidential" reason for delaying the trial will be because she experienced a miscarriage. Just a feeling.

Re The Crown. I’ve never watched it but I saw a clip on Gogglebox last night. The reaction of the viewers was that it was true. The attention to detail (clothes/mannerisms etc) gives it that reality. Younger viewers weren’t even born when Diana died so have no reference point. I remember teaching 6th formers who knew nothing about her. You’d have to be mid to late thirties to have much idea of what went on then. I thought about recent things I’d watched based on true crimes (Des/the Bamber case etc) and you fo get sucked in to believe it’s a true representation. Many will see it as generally true unfortunately. For the unhinged squad it just affirms everything they think they know 🤦🏻‍♀️

They will demand - not ask, demand - to stay at Windsor Castle and then kick up a fuss about HMTQ being so rayciss when their demand is refused. They'll then portray themselves as poor homeless victims of a cold-hearted wealthy family with multiple properties but no one offering them shelter, now that Frogmore has gone to Eugenie and Jack and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester have moved into their old property in Kensington Palace.

Anything to continue the victimhood narrative.

I don't think they will come back to be honest, maybe only for big events (e.g. funerals). And then they could stay in Buckingham palace or any other palaces spare rooms.

I only see harry returning if they divorce (which I could see happening within the next decade) and if they divorce I think he would be somewhat welcomed back but would have his tail between his legs and have a lot of making up to do.

I don't see Meghan getting pregnant again, she has never seemed maternal in the slightest. Very much career driven, and theres nothing wrong with that. But if you're going to marry a senior royal then its rare not to have kids, and harry is well known for wanting to be a dad. If marrying him was a career move she needed to secure him and the royal families responsibility to her for the future, and a child does that.

The Crown could do some damage but there are growing comments about how fictionalised it is now and I think that will slowly get round to all who watch it. Maybe some short term damage but not long term. To really secure the royal family for the future they would be best to draw a line under all the drama of the 80s and 90s and just have William take the throne when the queen dies. While I like camilla and charles, a lot of people don't and I think Diana's son taking his rightful place at a relatively young age would be better than a mid to late 70s Charles.

I wonder if it's a pay off for not having to actually repay the renovation money. Give it up and you wont owe further money. They have to be ranking up debt left right and centre at the moment

This Frogmore thing is interesting. As part of the January Megxit negotiations, they kept Frogmore as their UK base - that was always made clear. Back in May, we heard about the 'repayment plan' of £18k a month which was both rent and a repayment of their personal element of the renovations (copper bathtubs and the like). So again, as of May, they were keeping Frogmore as a base.

What changed? They signed a deal with Netflix that included personal video filmed in the Royal Palaces, including BP, Frogmore, and who knows where and what else, and seem to have signed a deal to supply more footage based on their lives (but its Not A Reality Show, OK?) Straight away in September we hear that they repaid a lump sum for the renovations, and reading today's news, they probably lost access to Frogmore at that point. Not to put too fine a point on it, they are a security risk. So now they have no legitimate reason to enter Windsor Park with a camera crew in their entourage. They can't film stuff at Frogmore, which is part of the Crown Estate. They are banished.

All the PR they are pushing out about 'letting Eugenie and Jack couch surf at Frogmore' is face-saving rubbish. They had the keys to Frogmore pulled after the video tapes and reality documentary Netflix deal were revealed.

ETA. In the Sun story, we had this interesting paragraph

Documents filed by Meghan’s lawyers last week read: “They were given residence in Frogmore Cottage (one of HM The Queen’s historic dwellings in Windsor Great Park).

"It is denied that the claimant (Meghan) has the option of living in Kensington Palace or any other royal palace as her official residence.”

Why were the ANL lawyers asking questions to clarify where Meghan has been living? Was this to do with collecting digital evidence? So they wanted to know which IP address (this lie that influencers spread explained here) /servers might be relevant ( @kev1974 do you have any ideas on this?)

My understanding is that JCMH and Meghan still 'own' Frogmore, as it was a wedding gift, and that E and J are 'renting' it from them?
That's exactly as I understood it too from the articles I read about it. And that they want to build a property at Soho Farmhouse or whatever it's called. I don't think Frogspawn was ever going to be grand enough for Madam anyway, I think she expected something far more palatial and was sorely disappointed.

As for renovations, if they still do own it and are renting it to E&J then I hope they'll be willing to pay for any work E&J need done as landlords 👍 They might need something different & more practical than a floating yoga floor or whatever other crap madam had put in there.

Peter Morgan is a republican and can't stand the royal family so everything is going to be exaggerated to make the royal family look bad, so the idiots in gogglebox will believe any old tit they watch

It is a Crown property, they don't own it. Anything Eugenie wants done she will have to ask granny, or fund it herself. Hard to imagine anything at all needs doing, and I think Eugenie is smart enough to know it would go down very badly if they even asked.

Ok, thank you 👍 why would E&J have to pay rent to the Odious ones then, if it's not owned by them? I guess I've got it all arse end up (not unusual for me)🤣🤣

I wonder if the crown can prevent broadcast of any footage from frogmore and other places within the estate regardless of when it was filmed?

That's what I'm wondering as well. Years ago, one of the tabloids managed to get a reporter a footman's job at BP, and he smuggled out pictures of TQ's breakfast tupperware. I bet all the employment contracts and property leases have been updated since then. We never saw one single picture of Frogmore, so they either were saving the footage for a mag deal / Netflix or there was a term in their lease that banned commercial photography or filming without permission from the Crown Estate.

To this day, I don't get why they were allowed there own personal film crew at BP for their final day with Association of Commonwealth Universities and Queens Commonwealth Trust. Who knows what else was taped there.
