Great British Sewing Bee #2

I rather liked Luke, he really revved into gear the last few weeks, and his final project was very cool.

Fingers crossed Kiell Smith-Bynoe stays on as presenter, he's been a sweetheart!

(I did scream at the reminder of the creepy puppet in the "What are all the sewers doing now", I bet Patrick screamed too when it was revealed the bloke had made a Patrick puppet, feels like the start of a horror movie)

He's only covering Sara's maternity leave I think 😔

Not going to lie, if I knew there was a ventriloquist dummy out there that was 'of me' I don't think I would be able to sleep at night.

I've thought some of the praise Luke got for their garments in previous weeks was undeserved but they were never bad enough for them to be the one to leave each week and they have produced some amazing makes so I'm happy for them to win, even though I wanted Ailsa with her lovely hair to win.

Luke's made to measure was impressive and their gloves were fantastic too. They performed the best in the final.

Would have been happy with any of them winning, but Luke's victory was definitely deserved based on the final. It was ages ago, but their week 1 made to measure is my favourite outfit of the series, in terms of something I would actually wear myself (with Alisa's amazing pleated trousers a very close second) 😍

I really hope Kiell becomes the permanent presenter, he's much better than Sara. I always thought Sara wasn't very interested and didn't gel with the contestants. Then I read that she was writing a book in the down time when filming the series and it kinds made sense then.

This series was pretty good overall - new presenter, no standout winner, the lovely Patrick and Esme always get on well. I hope Esme's ok - she seemed quite shaky.

I think the final played to Luke’s strengths given they had made gloves and done extensive draping before but that’s the luck of the draw. I felt a bit underwhelmed by the final challenge - it just felt that they all looked unfinished and a bit flat.

Ailsa’s transformation challenge was just weird - how did she think winding bunting round the mannequin tightly for half an hour would lead to a wearable garment?

Pasha was my favourite during the series. I thought both her and Ailsa were gracious in defeat.

Not the first garment Ailsa made that was actually impossible to get into IIRC.
