Aw poor old Juergs. Gazumped by the Italian in German week.
A well deserved star baker for Giuseppe though. He came out on top in every round.

I wasn't mad on Freya. Her vocal fry was driving me mad, or as my friend called it "Vocal Freya"
George hanging on by the skin on his teeth yet AGAIN! I'm pretty sure he's been at the bottom every single week so far and the only reason he's still here is because there's always been someone slightly worse than him.

Ok. I have a crush on Chigs.

I feel a bit sorry for Jurgen. Some crappier people get praise when they finally pull something off. When his really cool show stopper is just a bit dry it's like he had a massive issue.
He went in too hot!
First rule of Bake club.... Fly under the radar for the first couple of weeks...

It was a bad omen from the beginning when everyone was going on about how Jurgen would win German week - you could already tell he wasn't going to win the week after all the hype.

Where the hell did Noel disappear to halfway? How can he suddenly be "under the weather" halfway through a challenge? New presenters please.

Possible unpopular opionin but Jurgan and Giuseppe are favouriteised so much, clearly one of them are going to be the winner.
I suspect Jurgen will leave before the finale like Hermine last season, but Giuseppe will win.

It was a ridiculous idea to have a German week with a German contestant. They could have easily done another nationality. At least 'italian' week was disguised as bread week.

I love Noel, but that was really random.

I’m annoyed George was saved yet again. Part of his showstopper wasn’t baked! And also agree with Guiseppe and Juergen being the favourites and I don’t want to know who’s so obviously going to win. Having things like German week when you have a German contestant feel unfair all round. Unfair pressure on Juergen and I can imagine the rest of the bakers feeling peeved.

George is rubbish every week. I don’t think Freya was worse than him this week.
Oooo I could crush a grape (is ancient!)

I don’t disagree with Freya leaving, but I thought it was very close between her and George this week.

Lizzie’s really grown on me. I know many find her annoying but she’s so deadpan and witty, I love it! Her baking has also gotten better I think.

Happy that Guiseppe got star baker but I was crushed for Jurgen, he looked so sad. They’re defo my top two, and then I can’t decide between Chigs and Crystelle.

I don't think it is unfair to have a country specific week with a person from there in the group - not these days when realistically it is going to be something complicated that you would not set out to make even if it were a national dish ya know. As Jurgen said himself he would not order those types of biscuits if out for coffee and he would never ever stack the show stopper bake.
Like...if that was the case then all the British people should have a massive advantage most weeks.
I bake but it is only once in a blue moon I set out to put myself under ridiculous pressure just to see could I do something from the past/super technical etc.

Yeah I don’t think there was much advantage - as was played out in the result.

Do wish they’d been left to do it pure, without the structural element. It’s nonsense.

I think the format needs a really good shake up - back to basics.

Agreed. I watched one episode this season and then stopped.

Matt Lucas is insufferable. Sandi and Noel played off each other well but Noel and Matt is a terrible hosting conversation. Something about a rich and intelligent bloke acting like the village idiot for laughs is cringe and pathetic.

Themes are tired and the baking quality keeps going down every year.

The amount of advertising is so tiring. Remember when they managed to do 3 challenges and also a factual/historical segment about something they were baking in an hour on BBC. It's now a 90 minute committment and the final ad break before revealing the winner is just so greedy an annoying. I'd rather watch a film.

Paul is also really creepy towards young women.

I think Chrystelle is a dark horse

what was that chocolate cake they had to make called for the technica?
crystelle seems to be being overlooked a bit. Her bakes are really inventive yet she hasn't got near star baker. I'm not sad Freya has home home either. Good effort on the vegan baking front but meh. I do think they are making decisions based a bit more on entertainment value than pure baking now though, so Freya v George were neck and neck at the bottom but George is more entertaining
