I'd find it a bit weird if I wanted to date somebody (probably for marraige in Grace's case) and they had watched videos all about my life (and maybe even formed a bit of a parasocial relationship) and all I knew about them was their name and job! Like there are loads of people in the world, I'd rather date somebody who didn't know loads about me, I feel like it would make the relationship feel more organic

but then this is why I wouldn't put myself online so much tbh, she could have just kept it as a baking/cookery channel and not revealed so much
 
I get that she’d be uncomfortable dating a viewer, and I don’t judge her for rejecting someone based on that but it was the freak out that seemed odd - surely it’s an occupational hazard when you do YouTube.

Similarly to her freak out about her PJ “hate” actually (“hate” because saying her PJs are ugly is literally nothing compared to what some people get thrown at them).

yeah exactly, if anything she should take it as a complement imo. This again is why i think she is too sensitive to be a full time youtuber

I’m glad that I’m not the only one that was confused on that because I felt that she wasn’t clear on that. Now that I’ve actually watched the video.

She didn’t say what it was so it may well be a Christian one. I feel like that would make it even more likely she’d encounter viewers as well.

It would be interesting to see the demographic of viewers based on their gender, age range and how many are Christian. (This is coming from someone who’s not religious, female, and 4 years older than Grace like myself)

It would! I’m not sure she attracts a specifically Christian audience generally but I assume the app people will be near her and she’s probably well known for being a YouTuber in that circle.

To be honest i have thought i wonder if she is lieing about joining a dating app. When i say that i dont mean because shes malicious or anything. But she seems to change her behavior due to pressure . so i bet she feels she has to find someone cause her brother and sister have. (I hope im wrong as she shouldnt feel that need) so then she tells people she is on a dating app as shes sick of people saying things to her as her family seem all settled but not her. Even the odd bit in her video would make sense as she wants people to think she is on a dating app. I might be wrong.

It could be possible. I can see that with some people at her church who may make some remarks about her not having a boyfriend or not being settled yet like her siblings. I would assume she has a lot of friends and knows a lot of people from church, as they tend to be a tight knit community.
 
The dating app is probably a very recent thing? There wasn't really any point to it over the past year so I would be surprized if she used it before like, February. But with her siblings married & things opening up again, the pressure to date is probably back (or even stronger than it was pre-pandemic).

It might be a good time to get used to dating apps because so much is still happening online and it's very easy to back out of anything uncomfortable. I wonder if she'll "grow into" it and find a way of online dating that's good for her. And if it's just not her thing (fair enough, the entire concept can be really draining to some), maybe... idk, church events and whatnot are starting up in a while? Who knows...

(Something to think about as I watch Grace cook a really elaborate meal as I eat my instant ramen.)
 
I know this is pretty nosey and you can’t be sure, but what do we think Grace’s relationship with her mum is like? She seems super close to her dad. Always including him in things, making or buying his favourite food and things he enjoys (cinnamon roll, red slime etc) but barely mentions her mum unless she’s made dinner for the household.

I know her mum doesn’t like to be on camera and is probably a private person but I noticed in the Gordon Ramsey vegan steak video, her face dropped when her mum mentioned that her dad didn’t like mashed potato and he was unsure of the aubergine and Grace was staring at him waiting for a reaction but then when her mum said she wasn’t enjoying, Grace couldn’t seem less bothered.

yeah that is true, I think her mum is probably just annoyed that she is filming while they eat, even if she isn't on camera they are filming her voice, I know it would annoy me, also regardless of her filming her or not, I would find it a huge invasion of privacy to have os much of my house filmed.
Side note I hate when people call things "steak" or whatever when they are not, why not call it a nice vegan aubergine dish? it is funny as Ramsey used to be so critical of vegetarians
