I find it a bit rich that the guardian goes on about GB news looses, how long it it take them to stop loosing tens of millions of pounds a year? A decade?

Not that the model of GB news as a TV station will ever really be profitable. Although views on YouTube have doubled in a year, that'll pay 5% of their operating costs. But making money seems unlikely.

Not going to sign-up to GuardianTV then? :ROFLMAO: I regard GBNews and TalkTV just like Fox News in the USA ... as entertainment. The problems occur when people who don't know any better take everything these channels say as gospel! Can you imagine how po-faced and miserable GuardianTV would be!?? ;)

GB and Talk TV will never be profitable. There is a saying in Motorsport that the only way to make a small fortune in Formula One is to start with a large one, and News channels are exactly the same.

The americans are very opinionated, and that's not criticism. The British aren't. We would rather 'Tut' than go out on a demonstration, and we don't want US style news being beamed into our homes.

I regard it as entertainment too. And oddly enough, I find watching it in the morning quite comforting. It’s so dated, it reminds me of when I was a child in the 90s…free from worries and responsibilities!

I think that's what they are aiming for. I watched a bit of Camilla Tominey and Michael Portillo on Sunday Morning and think they are both really good broadcasters. GB News have done well to get them. I used to watch Andrew Marr on Sunday Morning but his replacement ... Laura Kuenesburg(sp?) isn't as good, Camilla is better and isn't constrained by BBC rules (we've seen what a mess they are).

I like Camilla Tominey as well.

I seen something about her having long covid and Stephen said she’s itching to get back. She’s been off more than on since she joined, just get rid. Talk TV is the same for these TV truants 🤣

GB News' trailer is "We're just like one big family" ... yeah, whatever. A family where members leave and don't come back, go missing, or join other familes.

She must be planning to come back if they're still using her name in the title and show her on clips even though she hasn't done a shift in a long time (this year?). I hope she does. Apparently lots of the staff at GB news have no idea where she is.

Yeah Camilla and Michael are good. Does Alistair Stewart still host? They have some good hosts. Mark Dolan is light entertainment. The morning shows are good too. Dan Wooten is hit or miss for me.

I'm going through the schedule as if i watch it all the time lol. To be honest, i haven't been listening to or watching much news at the moment as it was getting a bit samey across all stations.

Just strikes, brexit, scandals in downing street, cost of living etc. Doesn't seem like much has changed as i tried listening to Times Radio and Talkradio earlier, but much of a muchness. I dare not go near LBC as i know exactly what it will be haha.

Dan Wootten keeps calling suella superwoman 😆, absolutely bonkers.

Their morning show outside of buckenham palace is like something from the 90s - loads of background noise, long delays, Britney mics, horses practicing behind them and Eamon often can't hear so talks over the guest to ask the co person what they said. I'm enjoying it. It's reassuring.

Get Wincy Willis on the weather and the Green Goddess for a morning strech and it'll be just like old times!

I honestly watch GB news purely for the nostalgia - and sometimes it can be quite camp, which I love. I was watching the breakfast show on Saturday, and it was gold.

I don’t understand how they have the money to pay for some of the hosts

They possibly had their highest ever ratings last night with Mogg evacuated to a portacabin, an explosion in the background no other channels talking about the security alert until long after.

It does feel like it's got a lot of nostalgic charm, much of it accidental. But with elsewhere being so charmless it stands out.

I wish I grew up in the UK and understood these references 😆
